These controllers are now available and my question is; Since you can add an additional RS485 (LP-FXRS485-0)card to it is it possible to have dual N2 trunks? The reason is if cutting over a system that has 2 existing N30's and did not want to re address half of the controllers and put them on one bus.

Good Question. Not sure yet on what controller count will be or any license mumbo jumbo that they might have, but the real sticking point will still be memory. The 20's wont handle it even with a light load. Even with 60's with EM. I dont see loading up both trunks..especially if you have alot VMA's. or DX's or do alot of histories. You might need two to do it right?

Just bring them in as two bacnet objects and spend a week hand creating each point and graphic.......lol

Yes, you can have multiple N2 buses on the FX20/60. I believe you can have as many as 4. However, this is recommended only on the FX60

The question that my supplier has been unable to answer so far is the licensing. The FX60 comes with a license for the N2 driver; does this mean the whole device is licensed for N2 regardless of how many 485 ports you want to use? Or can you only use one port for n2 and the rest have to be something else? There is no part number for an additional N2 license. In the old days of Tridium you had to purchase a separate license for each 485 port you wanted to use. i.e. if you had a Jace-545 and only bought 2 mstp licenses, you could only use 2 485 ports for mstp.

According to Johnson Controls. You can have multiple rs485 cards in the fx 20/60. Which means you can have multiple N2. No additional license is required.

All, got a call from JCI and no problem with 2 seperate N2 networks back to FX60. FX 40 is still 101 max devices 20/60 no maximum. Also got this from one of the developers at JCI;

1) We have not finished our performance testing yet.

So I don't have anything to share yet.

Best guess is that the FX20 can handle around 20-30 devices.

FX60 is going to be hard to quantify.

Go to the JCI literature website;

http://cgproducts.johnsoncontrols.com/default.aspx

Do you have a local distributor who you purchase controls from for list pricing?

My question is, can you have an additional bacnet ms/tp or a modbus rs485 port with a n2 port?

Network101,

i see that you are located in europe, and i am trying to find info about this notorious FX20/60 through JCI EU pathways, but it seems that here is not so popular (or i should say available..). Can you provide me a list price for controller and basic accessories?
You can use my email if you like.. in my profile is available..

Conditional yes. The native "N2 Port" is RS-485. You can add at least 1- 2 port RS-485 expansion card and if my info is correct, 1 port can be "N2" and the other an RS-485 protocol of your choosing as long as you pay for the Driver (BANnet MS/TP, ModBus etc). The expansion card does not have to be N2 !

I don't have all the info on this yet but it looks promising if you want to connect multiple RS-485 trunks. I believe that there is still a 150 device limit but I dont know if that applies to "Total devices" or just the N2.

the FX60s do not have a device limit that I am aware of. Freddy B can tell some stories of putting 300+ devices on one FX60 with EM. I'm not that ambitious - I'd use 2 FX60s but I'm sure someday my sales dept will make me do it...

You can do it...With the newest jars, proper/latest Hvac-pro code/rev, Don't go overcrazy with Histories "FD issue" and have a supervisor to serve the graphics. Plus the bus layout has alot to do with the reasoning.

The site I did this way had 3 NCM's mounted right next to each other...so it made sense to try it.
