Huh? I never seen that set up before.

The the coil is before the heat exchanger?? Plan on putting in a new heat exchanger down the road.

Where is the Ref. line going to, I take it the compressor is else where, and going to this large box. What else in this box? Pretty big box for just a coil.

I'll get some pics of the compressor and some pics from some different angles on here. I don't like the coil there either, but that's how the boss..and actually how most people, do geothermal setups around here.

Coil in the RA drop makes a lot of sense to have both furnace and Heat pump working together for more efficiency/ energy savings. Most manufactures will not warranty Hx with that set up. With the new Materials in the HX being stainless steel and aluminum chances of rusting out are greatly reduced.

Last summer we replaced a G26 that had the A/C in the return air. Installing contractor long gone but we found no rust or corrosion on the HX.

Equipment has changed over the years and I believe this is one the areas the manufactures should look at to tweek energy efficiency's for Hybrid systems. Several RTU's are configured that way right from the factory.
