I have followed the rep on here from testo with questions regarding my concerns with the testo 523. I have the older style. I had concerns that the update rate of pressure reading was too slow for refrigeration work. Such as when pumping a system down. He had urged me to send the unit back and they would update the software to speed up the read time so as to track correctly. It would be a good chance to get the temp probe repaired too. So I did. I got it back. All refurbished. New probe. New case. The whole shot.

But. The pressure reading showing is still behind actual PSI when setting a cut out for a low pressure control. I am very disapointed. I asked specifically for this and I felt I was clear, and then was told it's possible to update the unit. Then I get it back and it doesn't do what was promised.

So. I am asking the fellas who have the Digi Cool. Is there a lag when setting a pressure control for cut in and cut out. This means that will the pressure read the same as the actual on a fast pull down such as when your pumping a system down?

The Digi-Cool updates the display every second, and the dynamic offset bar graph updates ever quarter second, so it is as close to real time as you will get.

The update for the Testo 523 display refresh rate is only for the new style ones.

Jim will I have to send in my 523 gen 1 unit to be updated, or can I just download it to unit via the units computer cable? Thanks.
Had my 523 on a walk in freezer the other day, been going thur compressors like they're free, 2 ft. suction run from evap to comp., super heat 61 degrees, r404a, wondered why we killing the comp? So easy to check with the 523. No one else caught this and several of us out there. gotta love it.

ndfrozen,
Sorry, but the firmware update is only available for the second generation 523. The software platform is different so the firmware is not compatible between the two units. :( We have no further plans to change firmware for the 1st generation 523.

The firmware updates are specifically for the newer gray instruments with yellow soft-keys and the larger display.

Dowadudda,
I copied these out of the old posts, Which version of the 523 do you have? The firmware upgrade is only for the new grey version. The firmware should be 2.02. Please PM me, contact info is in the profile so we can get this resolved.

Here is a link that shows a new 523 left, and the older firmware right.
