Please can someone advise me if $x is a good price to install a new Payne Indoor Air Handler MN PF1MNC025 with a new supplemental heater. This includes labor.

Many thanks

Please read the site rules pricing questions are not allowed.

There is no way for anyone to tell you if that is a fair price without seeing the job. Every house therefore every job is different so installation cost will vary.

Also every area of the country has different cost that factor into costing a job.

Things that must be considered are insurance rates, labor rates and supplemental material rates. A price would also depend on access to the equipment, what additional work must be performed like connecting to existing ductwork or installing new connecting ductwork. Price also depends on local ode requirements and what additional work made need to be performed to meet those requirements.

Suggest that you ask the contractor to explain their price and/or get other price quotes. Ask for detailed written quotes that detail the work they will perform so you are comparing apples to apples.

For instance my quotes are generally higher because I include all work necessary to perform a thorough and professional installation and do not take short cuts of any type. When customers compare my quotes to competitors they find generally that the other guy is much less but is not providing the scope of work I provide. When looked at this way they find that in the long run my price is a better value and they are not looking at additional work later to provide a functional efficient system.

since you missed the obvious no pricing allowed, as prices need to be different all over the country, I'll just say I would charge more, so yes it's a good price, if you trust the company will do good work, the best bet is to get more than 1 quote, payne is a lower budget line of Carrier, so may be lower priced than some of the bigger name brands. If installed properly will be a good unit but there is better out there, just expect to pay more.

I think that you should look into a new matching outdoor unit to go with it.

You can save $$$ when you get a 13 seer matched system.

Damn dude. If you're not kidding with her, I think I need to move there if you can get away with charging that much for an air handler.

With those prices. I wouldn't be able to afford any milk. Cause I wouldn't be working. Even the big guys with 12 secretaries, 2 dispatchers and 1 service manager for every 2 techs don't charge that much. We're already getting beat out by guys that can't be making a dime given the price of the equipment. Too many people willing to do it for $100 over cost. Of course they don't pay taxes and will be out of business in a year.
