Can anyone tell me if someone makes a 24 volt non-contact volt sensor?I think it would help to troubleshoot quicker if one was available. Thanks for any and all replies.

don't see how that could be of any use for trouble shooting control circuits............:o:confused:

The 1LAC 24-90V unit allows you to find a broken T-stat wire within the insulation as well as determine quickly if a transformer is supplying power, and to indicate which wires are powered up. When many bundles of wire are run in the same area, you can identify each without cutting the insulation by powering up one RTU or other unit at a time and testing each cable. If the cable or tstat wire is shielded it will sometimes not allow the device to work without cutting into the outer casing and separating the wires.
I found many uses for mine but the 1AC 90-1000V unit I do use a lot more often to quickly check for power that could bite me.;)

I have the fluke one, i got it when i picked up another 90-1000 volt tester and i had another 25 bucks i could waste.
sometimes its nice to have but if your in an electrical panel packed full of 208 or 460 the tester starts to beep within 6 inches of anything.
sometimes i find that i dont trust it and i end up using my meter anyway just to double check. its only 25 bucks so i guess its not realy a waste since its so cheap.

I have the fieldpiece one and it works on tstat wire fine. Chirps louder when near one thats definitely live. Think I paid 15-20 from johnstone.
http://fieldpiece.com/stand-alone.html Bottom of this page has a pic
Have the fluke 90 - 1000 vac got it free butthink I would use the 20 - 90 vac low voltage one a lot more. On higher voltage , I want to know what Im really dealing with other then you could at least tell if its hot.
One like fieldpiece that tells high and low voltage would be a lot more usefull to me being space in my tool belt comes at a premium. :D

I use the field piece which senses from 24v-600v. I paid about $15 at supply house. I don't know the model but the packaging noted 24v-400v but when I opened it on it was marked 24v-600v. I has both light and buzzer.

Extech makes 2 different ones: the DV30 which only detects voltage[12-600] and the DVA30 which detects voltage and current which is handy on pressure switches. It also has a range of [12-600] .
