I have a CCN network running. I use the Conform View 3.0 to control the network.
I see any methods to configure new controllers (33UNIVCTRL-01) in the network.
How do i get the software to configure a BUS and Address in the new controller and how configure a new device. Can i make this with Carrier Network Manager ???
thanks ....

I use the Network Manager Bus Scan, but the new controller has not configured BUS and ADDRESS, then the scan donīt locate. I see any utilities to set BUS and ADDRESS to new controllers but i donīt found in the Carrier website this softwares/utilitites.

IF I understand your question right, you will need some version of NST to do a "find" in "adress search" and then do an "edit address". I think there may be a last version of Comfortworks that does address search also.
Once you add it to your CCN you can right click it and select ...controller from the drop down.

Is there any way to connect comfortview with a usb connection? I have tried a few B&B converts but could never get a connection.

Short answer:
No!
CView was designed only for a serial port, and doesn't take into account the config of USB connections. Carrier won't spend any resources to do this as it will be phased out shortly, in favour of their new ALC 'Open' Network.

Carrier has a search utility for existing controllers. I use the zero to zero search. Use your RS485 connection directly from your laptop to the 6400 processor, type in 0 in address boxes, and then the upload icon. Remember, before you do this, to unplug the primary to the controller.
The window will then identify exactly what the controller functions on the CCN...address, bus, description, baud rate, ect.

There is always a way.

Whec,
I actually use the same method ausccn recommended, but it is a bit cumbersome cause you need to plug the Ethernet converter into a 24V supply (which is not always readily available).
But it is a good solution if you can sell a CCN to ethernet converter to the client.
I did have NSTV on my Vista laptop, it was not any fun trying to configure controllers with, so I blew Vista away and put XP on with CView, now most of my problems have gone away......(but not all of them, it's still a Carrier)!

Haven't tried it myself. My laptop is old, has a serial port, and runs XP. I just remember seeing this issue come up time to time on this forum. I remember ausccn's solution; very clever fellow. So I thought resurfacing that link could be of some use to others who run into the same problem.
Glad it worked for you, but as you stated; its a PITA. I'm surprised Carrier cares so little about it. This could affect i-vu future sales. People won't give them a chance because they'll have it in their heads, Carrier is crap.

They make usb to serial docking stations for the non-legacy laptops that don't have a serial port. I buoght one for a Dell that didn't have the serial port. The software redirects the IRQs and Memeory allocation to the add-on serial port. I got tired of it and bought a legacy laptop.

I am replacing an old laptop that has Carrier CV on it. The new laptop is going to be used in the same manner for service, remote dial-up and storing databases for reference. I cannot remember which of the three installations choices I made when loading the CV on the old computer server, client, standalone? I think it was client.

Use Client. You might have to move your OS back to XP Pro if its Vista.

I know there has been a lot of talk about CV won't except any usb devices, but I have used a usb phone modem for dial-up without issues few years. I have a self powered usb to serial that I have been going to try, just have not had the time to try it. Has anyone tried it?
