I recently integrated four ABB VFD's in two different buildings in two different JACE's. I commissioned the first two in one building and everything came up just great. Went to the points menu under the device in the Device Tree, did a Discover and then brought in all of the nvo's I wanted.
I went to the next building and did the same thing except this time on one of VFD's the Points list would not open on the right hand side to do a Discover.
I double clicked on the device itself and the nvi's, nvo's etc. all show up on the right hand side and are changing in real time.
Any ideas?

Were you using a Dynamic device or one from a Jar file? Does the device have an Lnml associated with it?

I can't remember - it was late in the evening. I may have done dynamic device for that drive. What's the deal?
Each VFD was physically connected to the network one at a time so that's why when I Discovered the first one, it didn't see the the second one. What I think I did was that I rather than do a Discover on the second one, I may have added it as a Dynamic Device.

If that is the case, just associate it with the same Lnml file that was used on the first one.
Go to your Lon Device manager and see if that device has an Lnml file associated with it. If these are identical drives you could just delete the dynamic device and duplicate the one that works.

So just delete the device and duplicate the working one? Then recommission the new one with the service pin?

That should work.

from my experience, anytime you try to discover points with the Lon Point Manager and nothing shows up after a "Discover", typically if you look at that specific device you will see it is not referrenced to an xml file, therefore it has no idea what kind of points are phyically on that device. as the other guy stated, yeah either duplicate that device, or find out what lmnl file the other device is referred to and configure it that same way.
