Hello
Is it normal for the chhc compressor to reverse rotation on a command to stop?. In accordance to the rthd compressor service booklet there is a discharge check valve at the compressor. Thanks; Chilly

Happens quite often no cause for concern

If it spins backwards for 1-2 seconds max. No worries.
But if it spins until pressures equalize, then thats not good. You should be able to hear check slam shut.

Technically speaking the check valve(s) should avoid the compressor from spinning backwards, as mention before if the compressor there is not enough force to pin the compressor backwards enough to cause any damage.

Check if the chiller is still under warranty and if so call your local Trane office and they should take care of it under warranty.

hello
local trane service reps state that its normal for the compressors to reverse operation until pressure equalization. Check valve must be used to slow down the flow of discharge gas. Thanks for the replys.
