Carolina Purge

If anyone else out there is blessed with one of these, do yourself a favor and take the check valve out of the gas line.

Don't ask how I know this, but I know it more than once.:D

I must say our Trane office here has done a heck of a job selling Trane purge retrofits. I have yet to work on a machine of any brand that doesn't have one.

I have several of them, no problems at this time. So are you finding them sticking?

I only have two left in operation. On a couple double-ender R-11 Tranes.

These both had a brass body check valve on the gas line from the condenser. It's actually an OEM part.

Inside is a little plastic disc with four pegs to make it not seat in both directions.

The little doo-hickeys break off, and then the disc does whatever it feels like until it finally goes away and the purge magically starts working again.

The Carolina Purges are actually not so bad, once you either take the check out or let the plastic disk totally disintegrate.:eek:
