Ordered one yesterday.
My current ride is only 5 1/2 years old and paid off but.
I notice little sounds and grinding noises and some squealing and this and that.
Haven't put any real money into it since I had it and has been a very good vehicle for me. It eats oil, not much but some.
However the warranty is up so if something major goes, well.
And this time I got one with all the extras.
Power options, cruise, CD player, keyless entry, heated mirrors, remote start and commercial bin package. I deserve it.
Got a nice silver beige color and will only put small signs on it, no phone number.
I can use the tax deduction too.
GMC Savanna, 3/4 ton, V8, locking rear and HD suspension.
I spend a lot of time in the trucky poo so................
I'm pumped.
Plus its the only time I clean out the truck real good and find stuff I never knew I had.:D

So what exactly are you comparing?
Aside form replacing the usual fuel pump, water pump, altenator, and plugged injectors etc on every Chevy van to hit 100k, the engines seem to last at least 150k. (Yes in the large fleets I worked in the same problems happened at all similar milage).
But the Fords go at least as long.
The last GOOD Chevy I had was a 2003 with the 6.0 V8.
The Ford 4.6 V8 vans are slow but for some reason the 5.4 is like ALOT faster. I'm driving a 2006 Ford with a 5.4 and it quicker to get going than the Chevy 6.0 vans.
And I ALWAYS bring this up. But walk around them Chevy vans (and trucks) knocking on the panels. You will be surprised how many are really PLASTIC and not metal! Rear corners, part of the front fenders, etc.
And as it being your own ride. It is nice you got the extra options. Because you are right, that IS your "rolling office" and you may as well be comfortable.
I throw quite a bit of stuff into my work vans I'm given to drive. Laptop, FM modulator, etc. I have to drive 2 hours at a time sometimes. SO I have to have some tunes on a long drive and a way to look up adress and store info.
If I had my own business, it would be decked out for sure! :D

Congrats on the truck...may you drive in good health...:)

Gas prices are a concern, this is V8 3/4 ton and good size engine, but at this point no one offers anything better for work.

I dunno about that.
i wouldn't mind having one of those Dodge (Mecedes) Sprinter turbo deisel vans!
As far as Ford/Chevy. It just depends on your preference. But I don't think the Chevy is THE best.
At least they don't leak oil like they used to be well known for. Sheeeez. :D

They had a goofy looking cube truck there. Like a pick up with a crazy, cheap ass body built on the back with some doors and large room almost the size of a reg van. Weird looking thing.
The body looked like heavy duty paper mache or something.

Not only are they still in business, their vans and trucks have disc brakes on front and back.
So does my '06 Chevy.
And it's faster than my '06 Ford was, hauls more stuff and the radio sounds better too.
Not only are they still in business, their vans and trucks have disc brakes on front and back.
Sounds like a James clone. GM has discs frt and rear too. Just not on their 1/2 tons.

I am currently driving one of my Chevy's, the reason is because it's a cube van and it holds tons of crap. (I am employee challenged lately) It's a 3500, other than the fact that it has a 6.0, it's not 1/2 the vehicle my E-350 is.

You should have said : GM has discs front and rear now. It is no secret that GM had massive recall and disc brake problems on their trucks. Their hasn't been any GM owners high five'ing each other over it. I like it when a honest GM fan admits the Ford out classes the GM in the van and work truck category. I have a lot of respect for them. ;)

I been putting up with you guys for a long time, huh??:D
Worked in the Auto parts biz from 94 to 04. Sold LOTS of rotors & rear calipers for Ford trucks with less than 50,000 mi. Everything was rotted away. Hardly sold any for GM's. Ford dealer was one of the #1 customers. Stocked 10 sets of each!

Well I signed on the dotted line.
I now have a dealer plate on my current truck and after they install my remote start and bin package, it will come here for the swap out of all the crap I keep in there.
I always find stuff I didn't know I had or needed.
Soon as I pitch it, next week I will need it.
