ASHRAE HandbookCD+ 2004-2007
Anyone bought this yet? Looks like a collection of many of handbooks.

http://www.ashrae.org/publications/page/1313

Look good. but its $499

1. If you have is it worth the price?
2. Anyone know if there is a site you and get it for less?

Thanks

I made the mistake of getting that CD. Yes it is all the books together and yes it is nice too be able to search for what you want. BUT it didn't work well for me reading double column text on a computer screen just doesn't work. you also cannot print anything off of the CD 's for better reading or to hand to an inspector. Oh and god forbid you laptop dies and you need to load the CD onto another computer good luck it was a pain getting the codes so I could load it onto my new laptop. I have sense coughed up the money and bought the real books.

Thanks for the warning. The can't print out issues is a killer for me.

The RSES Training Institute Manuals CD have same issues but thank god I got the book with the CD.

By the way while were on the Topic I'm giving serious thought to Joining ASHRAE The 20% discounts, Free Handbook and site access alone would appear Worth the $165

Anyone here who's an ASHRAE member have any thoughts about joining ?

I'm active in RSES and find that to be a great use of my time and money.

I've been an ASHRAE member for 20 years. If you are involved in HVAC Systems design, then it is easily worth the $200 / yr membership ($165 for national & $35 for local).

The ASHRAE Journal is a great monthly publication that you'll get as part of the membership in addition to the yearly Handbbook.

I should warn you that the literature is formatted for an engineer, not a layman or a technician.

I have some of the individual CDs, no problem printing from them.

Most likely if you buy the current hard cover book it could very well come with a CD anyways
