Wouldn't you think it's considered a little late to join the party? Since everyone else has been running/campaigning for about a year minimum as of now?

And as an independent, could be a spoiler and give the W/H to the Dems.

Everyone else started the race some time back, I don't care if you're Jackie Joyner Kersey, you can't catch up now and win the dang gone thing, all you can do is mess up the race.
Myself, I wish they didn't start until July or so. Get plenty tired of all of them in that short amount of time much less a couple of years!

It's not a bad idea. As an independent or 3rd part candidate he doesn't have to win primaries to get on the ballot he just has to get signatures in most cases so a late start doesn't hurt since in many states he can't even start getting signatures yet. Arriving late in the race makes him new news and he gets free publicity from the press for doing it. Thompson had the same opportunity but blew it by not being interesting enough to the press and not being different enough from the other candidates.

If he does go on as an Independent what chance in the overall would he have rather than just being a spoiler? Has anyone other than a Repub or Demo ever won the general election for President? Won't both sides just gang up on the guy too?
