"Black History Month", my essay

Black History Month is the time when Americans are forced to remember how blacks of the past were stopped from achieving success throughout history,

...and we do so by honoring blacks of the past who achieved success throughout history.



it's also the time when we celebrate how we traded Constitutional inalienable rights, for federally dictated "civil rights"

i kind of think i know what the op is saying since he is from LA, during that celebration you hear alot of black people, again just in case you didnt see it the first time......black PEOPLE, complain about racism and discrimination and at times they even look at me like the enemy eventhough im a minority as well.

After the abolishment of slavery the now “free” blacks suffered all kind of mistreatments and discriminations this went on legally all the way till the 1960

Look at what is happening in Africa. Black people are racist against themselves and for stupid reasons like you have a wider nose so must be killed. They sold themselves into slavery yet it is the white mans fault so lets celebrate!!

I'll bet the American indian would like to argue this point with you. What people tend to "forget" is that blacks were hunted like animals,chained, and packed into boats by other BLACKS, and sold off by the dominant tribes. That's right folks, blacks sold blacks to the whites as slaves. Just a reminder.

After the successful slave rebellion in Haiti all the White males remaining were massacred and the women kept as slaves and most committed suicide. In the Far East and Middle East the treatment of subjects by the rulers is nothing but horrific. Talk to POWs from Japan, Korea or Vietnam. The Chinese Emperors made court jesters of slave kids raised in jars so they would be deformed creatures after the jars were broke. I find it interesting that when Blacks being enslaved in the United States comes up it is rarely mentioned or emphasized that it was other Blacks in Africa who did the most of the hunting of those who were sold by other Blacks as slaves to White's.

Even with the very well done, albeit heavy on Whitey being evil movie Amistad, the main character's complete history was not revealed. Joseph Cingue, the leader of the slave revolt, was himself a slave trader in Africa.

So, what do I, the evil White guy who never had a damned thing to do with any of this need to do to make amends? NOT A DAMNED THING! I treat people according to how they behave and treat me no matter what their race, color of creed. So why do I need to constantly be made to feel like I should feel guilty over what happened to someone's great ancester? Being of Scots-Irish decent it is quite possible that my direct ancestors came to this country as slaves (indentured) themselves.

I'm as sick and tired of being Blacked out as I am of being fagged out. If the media and our government would just stop making such issues over our differences and dwell more on our similarities, it would be a lot better world. All we do is give low life people who want to blame others for their failures excuses to do so.

I hate when we find justifications for the unjustifiable, nobody has the right to abduct another human being, make them work for free, sell their children’s, rape the women, torture the men, segregated them and treat them like animals.
We can’t change what happened but I don’t think them blacks liked it very much, are they better off here? sure they are!! but given the choice I bet they would had said *edited by ARPC*

Black history month was intended as a way to make them proud of their heritage, build them up a bit, technically blacks don’t have much to be proud off.
