I like I Robot a lot.
I can't believe they did not show the extended alien scene in the original movie. The alien's perception of and intent for humans explained a lot of questions about the theatrical version.
I liked I Robot but don't really see it being one of the greats in Sci-Fi.

An old one I seen 35+ yrs ago when I was a kid and Im still looking for. A meteor crashed and started growing tall, it would crash down and all the pieces would grow and crash down..... etc. The rocks over came these farms and small towns and such and at the end as they were getting in the city and the people were trying to figure out how to stop them to no avail, the rain stopped and they quit growing. Anyone ever see that one?

Oh Yeah Forbidden Planet (Honey West) Anne Francis ushered in the Micro Mini.
The original Time Machine is great I have seen it dozens of times.
Blade Runner excellent film.
The Terminator series very good the Aliens scenes in the Abyss were the prelude to the technology to do the second Terminator film.
Most Sci Fi remakes are not very good but the Time Machine remake was decent.

Ahhh, the original Thing with an unrecognizable James Arness as well as the very well done remake with Kurt Russel. Both great movies showing what mankind just might be doing to louse up our future.
Another one with a remake along this line is The Blob. Again, both versions are good in their own way.

That was the green blob. I remember sitting on a saturday afternoon double feature - for 15 cents or so -- and watching as the guy returned from space, turned into a green blob and squeazed under doors. LAME, I thought.
A few years later that squeezie stuff came out for kids called slime or something. I still think it was a Martian plot to take over the earth that failed. But they have regrouped, come back and now call themselves nate. ;)

You may be mixing up some movies here. The Blob (original) was red. It did come from outer space and was only diffused of it's power to ooze when it was frozen.
The remake may have had green Blob but it was not a man.

I donot. I saw all the orginals cause that is what all us kids did on Saturday. Maybe the same movie but red was not a popular color in DC during the 40 & 50's so them may have changed the color to green just for us.

Yep, I can't say enough about it, actually. The most original idea to come down the pike in some time.
As for Outland, it was enjoyable from a "High Noon" standpoint, but as science fiction I thought it failed miserably. Let's see, explosive decompression could kill us at anytime. Now here's an idea; let's carry shotguns!

All that have been mentioned are great movies.
Here are some that I remember from childhood but only parts maybe someone will remember them.
First one was about a Japanese sub that flew and I can't remember much else maybe went through rock.
The next one all I can remember that people were forced through pipes like at a refinery and blood seeping out of the pipes.
Then there was the great one with Abbott and Costello on Mars with the Amazon women.
There are any number of 50's space movies that were very campy but a lot of fun to watch.

Bladerunner
TRON...One of the best of the 80's classics.
SpaceBalls... I know it's a comedy.
The Black Hole... I remember going to see it but thought it was dumb.
Bicentennial Man... Very Asimov like story, human interest type thing.
Stargate... I watched the original series and now the Atlantis series since they started.
Dune the movie was OK as long as you realized that there was alot of thinking going on. The Sci-Fi mini series was much better as well as the next chapter mini series The Children of Dune.
Like others have said, I find it difficult to call any Sci-Fi movie bad, well maybe I'll make an exception for the Friday the 13th and the Hellraiser outerspace movies.

Vincent Price The Tingler My Farther took me to see it I must have been 7 Had bad dreams for days
More of the campy horror genre, but I agree that anything with Vincent Price is great entertainment. Hell, I even enjoyed the commercials he did with the bug zappers.

There is one that can count as Sci-Fi and Fantasy - Ralph Bashki's "Wizards".
I still crack up over "They shot Fritz!! Those lousy stinkin' fairies! <shots fired> Hey I'm OK! Ooh really? Damn! <shoots friend accidently> Fritz?!? Fritz?!? They shot Fritz......."
<chuckle> Now I'm going to have to dig it out and watch it again!;)

Wizards is absolutely one of the all time greats. Ralph Bakshi changed the way animation was thought of with movies like Wizards, The Lord of the Rings, Fritz the Cat and Cool World.

Does anyone else remember a movie from around mid '60s entitled
"Green Slime"
I remember seeing on TV when I was a kid. To refresh it was about a little bit of green slime that grew to thousands of one eyed tentacled monsters that took over a space station.
Is is available cheaply on DVD?
Just happened to remember the title when another tech was telling me about an algae cleanup he had to do:D

I have been a watching Torch Wood on BBC. Great series but for one really terrible thing...there is man on man kissing...totally freaks me out. apparently Captain Jack is a real flamer. I may have to stop watching, the first three shows this year had man on man.
It is a spin off - of Dr Who.
