I love the work. I hate the job

I will say one thing. I love what I do. Troubleshooting, and fixing and watching something run like a smooth silky sexy runnin bandit, after nursing the old gal back to life.

But I hate everything else. I hate the paperwork. I hate the before and the after. I hate ordering all the right parts. I hate keeping track of the time, as if it was going to somehow change the outcome. I just want to show up and diagnose, then return to the operating room to perform surgery. Allow my nurses to close the deal.

I just want to stay in the middle of the work all the time, and not worry about anything else. :D:D

I feel the same way. I hate the paper work part's ordering ect I just
want to fix it and go on to the next job.Ive alway's told the shop that
I need a secretary to ride along to keep paper work and stuff strait.:D

Me too also, Im the branch mgr. of a service Co doing supermarkets and Im at my best when in the field fixing what others have given up on. I also love teaching those that are willing to learn to do things the right way and not just what works.

The best thing to do is start your own shop so you can make all the decisions, do the work you have interest in, and hire people to do what you don't want to do.

You'll probably find out why you're asked to do the other BS things nobody likes when you're employed as a mechanic. BTDT. Usually a real good reason for everything.

I do agree with you though, love the work and hate the job. Kinda like, love my wife, but hate being married.
