i went on a call today and the con pump was bad. a first for me. i call my boss he said they have been replacing the con pump every year for 5 years. he does know why. heres the thing its hooked up to a 90% york heater. the heater has a tee in the flue pipe but its at the side of the heater not up in the ceiling like i'm use to seeing. any real reason for that.

Sounds to me like it's just a different setup then your used to..The exhaust is installed from the side of the furnace..Was it a carrier?..Did the tee have tubing running from it?..As for the condensate pump going bad for 5 years in arow..Coundn't tell ya..Maybe just a real crappy pump..

the pump is a little giant pump and its a york heater but the tee is right next to the heater and soon as u come out of the heater it goes in to the tee then a 90 off of the tee then up.

You gotta be careful of what type of pump you're using. Little Giant and all the others make two types of pump. Those that can tolerate the low acid content of the condensate water and those that are meant strictly for AC condensate, which has no acid. Put an AC pump on a gas furnace job and yes, you'll replace the little devil often.

What does the tee do??..Pointed up/down/open ended/tubing coming from it??

the tee is pointing down and has a tube coming out of it to drain the flue
