I am really super curious because I have watched this seemingly incomprehensible string of letter and digits grow for quite some time now...what the heck does it all mean?

Help me out here, I am infinitely curious about this......:D

The first 2 are mnemonics for old series 90 control circuits
1: Red to Blue for BTU, meaning that of the 3 terminals on a series 90 control you have red, white and blue. Red is common, white decreases resistance feedback to the controlled device and blue increases resistance.

The second one is Add Resistance to white to open, blue to close.

The third is from a Van Halen Album OU812. Which I always thought was funny.:D

The color of the fonts kinda indicates their meaning. Since everything is going digital now it's old school stuff. There's a video out there of me displaying an old series 90 feedback dual potentiometer. Do a search otto hvac video. http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=otto+hvac&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B2DVFC_enUS215US215&um=1&sa=N&tab=wv

Onour heating systems up here a series 90 valve would be wired to a series 90 pot feedback. If you want the valve to open you jumper R to B. Ergo; R2B4BTU. Don't think about it too hard, you might get a brain cramp.

read this (http://customer.honeywell.com/Techlit/Pdf/63-0000s/63-2190.pdf) then ask any questions that you may like answered. It's a great thing to do to get an old series 90 system to work, then the real challenge is to convince the customer why they should go to DDC system.

I actually replaced the valve packing assembly on a series 90 3 way diverting valve this morning. They're still out there. Easy enough to work on if you understand the basics of ohms law and feedback.
