Have a furnace that burned up and am in the process of replacing. I am intrigued by the Coleman. Had a York dealer tell me yesterday that the Coleman is the builder model of York. Of course he was insinuating that the York is a better model. I thought they are identical. Is that true?
I am looking at the Echelon 9.V with variable speed motor and 2 stage burner. I am hoping this combo will solve my temperature variation in the house. I have a 2 story and upstairs bedroom is WAY cooler in the winter than downstairs.

Coleman is the same in that model, York sells builders models also. Don't look for a unit to solve your comfort problems, the duct system is what you should be looking at.

If you get it done this year you can get the TAX credits, but if you wait until next you won't.
At what the equipment costs though, no body seems to worry too much about saving 200 bucks.
There really is no difference here, go with the contractor that does the most for you.

I think the 9.V Coleman/York models are the same. At least the control boards are the same (from looking at the manuals).
The Coleman "9.C" has a different board from the York 9.C/9.V (I guess only the Coleman 9.C gets fewer settings - just my stupid luck)
Anyway you can get all of the documents off of the Coleman/York website. Just know that the Coleman website is a bit messed up. You will need to delete the word "dealers" from the link in order to access the documents.
Bad link on Coleman Webpage:

Remove "dealers" from the URL to access the document:

Coleman is better
I recon in reality, given the choice, I would rather my knob be red than black.

Is the York dealer going to install either the Coleman or the York for you?
If not have you talked to a Coleman or Luxaire dealer?
York, Luxaire, and Coleman all point to the same manual.
MODELS: PV9*UP / FC9V*UP / FL9V*UP

I was wrong in my earlier post. The York and Coleman 9.C have the same board. However the 9.C and 9.V boards are different.

Is the 9V version factory set to go on high speed on both low and high stages?
If so, what is required to be done to allow the furnace to run at low speed on low stage?
my hvac guy is on vacation for a week!

having been to the norman plant, i know they are made on the same line, or used to be anyway, with different badtches only. we dont need no stinking badtches to know they are the same unit. controls might have slightly different options, but i dont think so.

I while back I said I would post an answer when I got it.
Well the heat and cool is working just perfect, now that I understand the "heat, cool and adj" tabs. The rpm values are in the table and so it is just simple to connect A, B, C, or D on the heat and cool and the same on the adj.
Worked perfect on two stage heat this past winter. Actually it heats the house fine on low stage and even when it got cold it never went to high stage. This may be an indication that the furnace is oversized.
Plus put in a relay for the humidifier and it works now as well like it is supposed to.
The cool cycle is single stage and runs on the cool high rpm selected.
