i installed a Guardian by York this summer in a new construction. EBBA48 heatpump, air handler AHP 48 and an electric bank 4HK16502006a Statis W/R 1F72 hp stat. I'm getting a 1 flash signal on the air handler board. this says open limit. i ohms tested the limits and were ok. i jumpered and bypassed the limits and still get flash code. supply house tech suggested changing board, so i did, same code. I ohm tested each wire, and visually inspected each wire or see for manufacture defects,,, none were found..went over the low voltage wiring several times,, and took in wiring skeme to supply house to verify that i had wired it correctly.... 14yrs experience doing this and i have installed a few of these so i think im proficient at it i put in the same system, cept 3 ton on another house and haven't had any problems with it.tested at molex plug for dc voltage 29 dc between, r and brown.... only 1 bank comes on,,, purple pulled electric bank only 1 has signs of ever being energiesed... any ideas would be great.....

I had that same thing happen to me about year ago. Make sure that black jumper pin is set correct on the board. If I remember correctly, it comes in the no heat position and then when you install the heat strips you need to set to heat.

yes,,, the heat pin is in the heat position... forgot to write that in. the maual says with no pin in at all it will revert to heat .... tried that too...

I maybe wrong, but I think the board has three pin and you move jumper from one side to the other.

When all else fails call York technical support.

sounds to me like a bad board if theres continuity through the safety circuit.

i have changed the board once and it went into the 1 flash right away. i have called tech support and talked to a guy there. he emailed me a wiring diagram of the unit once he found it. i emailed all my info, including a low voltage wiring that i did and have not recieved any replys. i had asked for advice on what to do next... i would think jumpering r to brown around the limit switches would take the 1 flash off.. does anyone know if 1 flash can be faked by something else?

Have u tried to test continuity of the entire safety circuit at the board?, if your jumpering limit one by one i understand what your saying, but there are limits u may not see, like blower limit maybe?

i have jumpered the 2 safety limits on the heat strip indivigually and completly removed them from the circuit. i have removed the mulex plug and tried that and still 1 flash. with the mulex plug removed i have jumpered r to b which is the upper left 2 termimals. then teseted for 24 v dc at the other 3. purple is to the first relay, grey is to the second, yellow is to the third and fourth,

this is my wiring low voltage have install manual right here next to me,i have gone over it 3 times now to make sure it is how it should be wired, per york spec.

Pull the molex plug again. And ohm the limits throught the molex plug.
While doing this, wiggle the wires. You may have an intermitant open that doesn't show when you test devices one by one.

Temp rise is too high, does the fan run continously when in safety?

I bet that the discharge air temp is too high when in defrost of something like that. I had one doing the exact thing I increased the blower speed and opened all the vents and have not heard back yet this winter.

What model air handler and heater kit do you have?
