I have a White-Rodgers model 1F79-111. It is non programable, digital
2 heat/ 1 cool stat. Don't know if I have a problem or this stat is designed this way. I have been keeping the power off in my garage where this stat is located. The batteries keep the ambient temperature readout lit up and it reads 71 degrees regardless of actual temperature. White-Rodgers claims it should read actual ambient temperature between its limits of 32 to 105 F. I have replaced it and new one reads exactly the same. Does anyone know of a stat that will read actual temperature regardless of power being off or on? the reason is I usually don't have power on in building and when I go out to work in the winter let's say I have to jack up the heat set point to 72F to get heat pump to kick on. If I go out every 1/2 hour the ambient starts to drop SLOWLY and maybe 2 hours later it will be reading 50F. I then need to remember to lower set point to what ever I want it at the rest of the day. Call me stupid, but shouldn't I be able to walk out to the building, the stat reading the actual temperature, and all I should have to do is power up equipment, bump up the set point to say 60F and walk away???? Please help me understand this. thanks for any help. Ted
