Hi folks,

I am a homeowner looking to replace 3 units with either Trane XL19i;s or Carrier 17 Seer Infinity R units. Your thoughts on which system I should go with would be much appreciated. The Carrier quote is more by a little but it involves more detailed duct changes etc. Both installers are very reputable and I have checked out references extensively.

Thanks for any help in this matter.

I sold and serviced Trane / American Standard for 11 years, but I now work for Carrier Factory Dealer and I have never seen a system that even comes close to Infinity.

Better humidity control
More even temperatures
Controller is user friendly/ Trane doesn't have controller
Quieter/Infinity vs Trane 19i

Warranty is the same
Product dependibility is about the same.

Cost is about the same here in Texas.

Difference spine-fin coil Trane
Flat/deck coil Infinity

Wiring 4 wire on Carrier
Trane has 6 wire+ more with outdoor stats.

Take it for what's it's worth, an opinion. Buy Carrier Infinity.

You apparently are sold on effienciency. Now, do your homework and look at the ACTUAL efficiency (EER, because SEER is a mild weather rating) of the systems you are looking at. If you look hard enough you will find the Rheem 16 SEER will provide the same or better efficiencies at about half the cost AND a better warranty than either of the other two. But if you are brandwashed and hung between the 2, go with the Carrier. The r-22 in the Trane will be hard to come by in about 7 years.

I work for an authorized Carrier dealer and I install the Infinity systems and I would get this system. Top of the Line, new R410a , super quiet. FYI, I have this system in my house as we speak. Great investment.

Choose the contractor that is doing the most to make sure your new system will work properly.
