...that the U.S. and China are the biggest polluters. That may be true of China but the US is very clean compared to MANY other nations.

Whatever the U.N. says, you can pretty much count on it being untrue.

The article is incorrect.
What the UN actually says that that the US and China are the largest producers of C02 per capita. This is true.
As far as solid particle pollutants, however, the US pretty much leads the world in cleaning up its act. In China, things are not so good in that regard. In some places in China, people need to wear surgical masks to go outside. Yeah, it's that bad. I wonder how long this unchecked industrial development can continue before there is some kind of social unrest. This is similar to what happened in London during the 1600s when the coal smoke was such that at times you couldn't see across the street.

I've been hearing people leaving out the important information for years.
I remember a seminar where the speaker said something to the effect that the USA uses ??% more energy than Belgium. What! We have 200+million and Belgium had 19million. Of course we will use more energy.
USA and China actually make stuff. That takes energy. We're both full of people. That takes energy. It gets cold here. Energy.
While much has changed like when Regan took office the USA was the largest importer of raw materials and the largest exporter of finished goods. Regan began the turn around and now it's reversed. We're now the largest exporter of raw materials and importer of goods. All in 37 years.
