Hello All,
I am looking for assistance in tracking down a small leak in a GeoTherm WaterFurnace that is being a true pain. Understand the principal but do not have a lot of experience with this Brand. I put in a Fluorescent Dye and other that the mess I made see no trace of a leak. The only thing I am concerned about is if it is in the Tube in Tube bundle!! Does anyone have any knowledge in this area. This is a pump and dump system where it comes from the well and dumps in back yard. (sandy Soil) Before I order a new bundle, would like to feel the water out there. Excuse the pun.
The Model is WXV049A2105, Serial is DK4152

Thanks in advance, The Good doctor.

On a pump and dump, if I suspected the leak to be in the water coil, I'd cut the water lines aloose and check it with a electronic leak detector. The last two leaks I searched for in Water Furnaces turned out to be in the indoor coil and both were a booger to find.

Those WX units are notorious for leaks in the air coil. I'd run the head pressure up to 400 psi and check with detector then. All the co-ax leaks I've ever found also let moisture in ref circuit.

I bet I've changed 150 air coils to maybe 5 coax coils.

If its in the water coil, cut a water line and put a fitting vertical and fill it to the top with water, let the unit run til it shuts off on high pressure.

Watch the water for bubbles, verify with detector.

Dont forget to remove voltage from water valve..lol

Thanks for all the good answers to my problem of a leak.
Sounds like more attention needs to be given to the indoor coil.
I'll tear apart the duct work to get to the other side of this coil.
Thought that the dye would have migrated through to be viewed from the other side, within the furnace.
It's a nice unit, (high efficiency) but can be a bear to troubleshoot, and locate. Regards The Good Doctor....:)
