Notice since the James Gang left town Geerair is gone? Last post 10/13
Possible explanation.... They are one in the same... A split personality?
Or... Geer is bored w/o the gang.
Or....Wallynut finally got to him....
Discuss..

I see the liberal Dems just can't stop celebrating now that James is gone and a lot of us real Americans don't post here much.
Call it a gang if you want but at least we didn't believe in changing this country into a socialist commie state with perverts in control. James and the rest of us cleaned your clocks pretty good when this forum was wide open. But you all have it now enjoy.

Everyone is free to discuss the same topics we did before, we just have to keep the language and tempers in check while doing so. By the same token, everyone is free to use the new rules as an excuse to retreat if they want.
This forum was scheduled to be closed on November 1; due to the positive changes that we've all made, we have a reprieve...for now anyway. I see that as a victory for ARP members, don't you Glenn? :)

In reality this is not true, the committee and others has pretty much squelched discussions that are argumentative in nature and of course since they have been deleted by others there is no proof of their postings.
I will say this your out of line with your pompus attitude about people retreating you have won nothing as there was no war to win, no front to fight on , people stop posting because it was no longer appropriate to continue to post and have them deleted for whatever reason the arp commttee and moderators decided they wanted to use for that day.
Just for the record this is not another whine thread as some so like to call them, its just a statment of fact as seen from my view, you don't like my view close the blinds :)

Mrs. Reb, I've always enjoyed your posts and I did not mean to imply that their are not lots of good true blue Americans like yourself posting here. It just will take a while for me and several others to get over all this. Some never will.
I do get upset when it appears that some are gloating over what has happened. I believe that most are upset how everything went down and some more than others. I believe that the "toning down" of the forum could have been done with less "bloodshed" but it is what it is. Keep posts coming I enjoy reading them. I am busy and need to spend less time here anyhow. I might feel better later on and come back more often. We'll see.

In answer to your questions a long time poster pressed the issue in another forum and was removed from the site for his further comments.

Pompous? No. Truthful? Yes. There have not been nearly as many threads deleted as you think. This is yet another shining example of the gossip that is being spread. I can see every one of the deleted posts, not that many at all. The biggest problem with ARP today is all the people who come in here tp post negative and whiny junk instead of putting their efforts into making a positive contribution. That is what I mean by retreat, the whining is taking the easy way out.

I'm not sure I've ever been referred to as pompous in my life! Another first for ARP.
Hey, am I a minority here? Shouldn't I get some kind of special treatment? :)
I can remember back to the first time I ever posted in ARP. Yes, I was hesitant. Yes, I thought I'd get backhanded, lambasted or worse. But, you know what? I realized that it's only my computer! No one could actually touch me and it became more enjoyable. I don't have many peers that I can discuss with many of the topics found in ARP. They either aren't interested or, (ye gads!) not on an intellectual level to do so. That's what makes this place special.
As well as the Dick Clark episodes Twilli has!

Political correctness? What, do you think we're ALL liberals? :D I don't think so. Flame wars (who needs em), spam (we're not eating!), racial slurs or worse (what's the point!) those are all things that every site can do without. Political correctness? I do know that there was talk of closing it. The ARP committee while not liked by some had the best interest of this forum at heart. I'm certain that they will rub some of you wrong.
I did see two post that I posted on removed within the last 24 hours. Not my decision, nor does it offend me, I go to other non hvac sites and post are often removed, with no reason given and any question of the moderators who in some cases are unidentified is also reason for your removal.
Websites are like small countries and are sometimes ran like a dictatorship. I guess if you don't like it form your own country, or immigrate to another one. I'm not debating, I'm just making an observation, I "sense" there are some hurt feelings, some anger, and some disgust with the way things are.
I don't have answers, heck I want to be part of the problem, I come here (to this site) to have fun and learn things and socialize with my fellow hvac members. I for one like this site and have no complaints. Twilli is a suck up. Also every once in a while "I" come out of third person.

Hmm intresting , its by observing that I note the threads missing not by thinking, Why is it that it seems everytime a post is made concerning the ARP, its considered whining, People have that right to make conversations about this section.Its up to you as a committe member to accept that as reality and get over it without taking it so personal, its not your ARP it belongs to the members. People have avoided the ARP because of the nature of the beast as politics and religion to tend to incite the masses as some members can relate too.

Just for grins and giggles, I checked the first two pages of ARP and General Discussion for the number of deleted threads. General Discussion has 1 more than ARP.
You are correct that ARP is for the members to discuss the topics listed in the header. I respectfully remind you that all of us on the committee are members of ARP too, and we were elected by the membership to clean things up a bit in here. This was after site administration informed the membership that ARP was on thin ice and that this was the last chance of saving it. I'm sorry ifi you weren't aware of these facts. But it's also a fact that ARP "lives" today because of this committee and the members who have helped us to effect change. What happens from here depends on all of you.

Well, you may be onto something. I have had some pretty serious religious conversations here without the flames/name-calling, and such were actually annoying and ignored. I prefer the ''free for all'', but a more seriously moderated forum may be best for this site. I admit that, sacrificing my own preference at the considferation of the management. Perhaps this is not a good site for a 'free for all'. I respect that. ARP is not a primary objective of the site, very understandable. Just an 'accommodation' of some members, it must be difficult to manage such a complicated thing

OK what about those on the other side who feel the need to start a thread or post about how they like the banning of James who in my opinion was one of the best members on this site and posted in the technical forums with good stuff that helped a lot of techs. That opens up a sore in me and a lot of others. I believe in open discussion without the name calling but that shouldn't allow others to attack someone who can no longer defend himself. That gets me upset to no end. If you want the "whining" to end then you should also stop the "gloating". That is my opinion.

The old ARP has been dead for a lot longer then you think, go back a few years and read some of the old discussions that took place before your time, in some cases they became flame wars but the over all conception was if you can't take the heat then don't come a calling. and they still managed to converse in an intelligent manner.
It has been only been in the recent yrs that ARP had become a spam center and battle ground. Now that the rules have changed and there are new rules in place, it has mellowed out to a more all around conversational forum and that is not all that bad of a thing for the members that choose to partake in the discussions.

Its more along these lines :)
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
