yeah sounds like a great idea.

the only problem is the rich don't pay taxes.

every tax, every fee, every expense, is added to the price of doing business, which is paid by the forced consumer.

there's only a few people who are rich who sit on a mountain of money and pay tax.

they hire money investors (i forgot their name)

they stick the money into mutal funds, everyone expects big returns.

when a company goes under, the owner changes the name, "LLC" limited ,liability, not reponsible for crap,"incoporated" an entity that is a figment of your imagination, and acts like they never heard of the company, and the governemnt picks up the bill, aka the tax payer.

the liberals want the "rich" to pay higher taxes, so they can extort more money from the citizen, so they can create a whole career out of sitting on their a$$ , filing paperwork, and telling people what to do.

the government already has it's hands in billions of dollars of funds it never had a legal right to,
when's the point in time when the government says "we don't need anymore money, we're cool" ?

I agree with you that the liberals are very wrong to want to further tax the rich.

As for your statement that the rich don't pay taxes, you have no idea what you're "talking" about.

By the Numbers

96 percent of all federal tax revenue comes from half of all taxpayers.
53 percent of all federal tax revenue comes from the top 5% of all taxpayers.
3.5 percent of all federal tax revenue comes from the bottom 50% of all taxpayers.
44 million taxpayers are estimated to owe no federal income tax and will receive a refund for every dollar that was withheld from their paychecks over the past year thanks to the new 10 percent bracket.

I would have to be drunk out of my mind with delusion to ever believe that Wofstrike ever knew what he was "talking" about....:)

The question is "Is the exchange of power on behalf of the rich a judicious trade-off for the amount of taxes they pay?

Why do liberals demand that more be taken from those who have and given to those who don't?

Why do the rich expect the special interest treatment by lawmakers in exchange for the economy they generate?

Why do the rich expect the special interest treatment by lawmakers in exchange for the economy they generate?

Because the rich have the capital to purchase the politician in question....

Until we make that illegal, the cycle will continue.

Hrmm... I'm a "liberal". I pay huge taxes. I don't sit on my ass all day. I certainly try to file as little paperwork as possible. I don't get to tell anyone what to do. Go figure.

Welcome to ARP, where rational thought is thrown out the window, replaced by feverent attempts to keep the pro conservative ideals very much alive. To their dismay, some other influence will eventually make that an illogical attempt to construe some sort of reality.... A reality that is false...

Like I said, welcome to the ARP section of HVAC-Talk....

Don't you mean you can't tax a business? Whether you are rich or not you will pay taxes. I would think 33% is more than a fair share!

I think what he means is, while they DO pay taxes, they collect the funds to pay them through price increases. It is actually the consumer who pays those taxes for the very rich. To increase taxes on the very rich is to raise the cost of living to the consumer.

The idiot dem/libs don't address that part of the issue.

BINGO

so the government says, 'we're raising taxes',
so the rich call a board meeting, talk to their accountants, the accoutants say 'we need to raise our prices to cover the new tax, if we raise our prices 5%, that will give us enough money to pay the new taxes, AND add an extra minor profit'

so when your average Jose is forced to call a pumber, he's getting hit with the new tax, and then some.

basically all of the rich in america are invested in business one way or another.

i'm sure the guy who plays golf all day is really upset about the tax hikes

So let's get rid of the folks that start and own a business.....lets raise the tax they pay to an amount that will run them out of business. I mean it's not enough that the majority of folks work for what is considered a "small business" let remove those all together and just have people working for the big companies like Wal-Mart....If you didn't know America is founded on small business growing larger.......you have to start somewhere.

People are innovative and will find there way around things like "taxes"....if you haven't figured it out that's why they are rich. It's also why there are job's like CPA's and Lawyers...

That's still not the way it works. If "the rich" could just raise their prices anytime they wanted to, things would cost a lot more than they do now. There's this thing called a free market, raise prices too high and the competition gets your customers.

The cards are stacked in favor of BIG BUSINESS.

Small business and middle class pay the most to support the rest of the country.

We need another Teddy Roosevelt. But then he lost his re-election bid.
