Just came back from Kansas City. Went to a place called Jack Stacks. Biggest cuts, best sauce, killin with the slaw, cold beer. What a wonderful place.:D:D

Funny, I went to KC area this past weekend also, I ate at a place called Zarda's BBQ (Blue Springs,MO) not too bad for a bunch of mid-westerners, a little too heavy on the sauce. TXBBQ still king. JMHO.

Ok since I live in Kansas City I need to add a few things. first Bones74 you went to Fiorella's Jack Stack a vary good BBQ I would rank it 2nd in the city.
txhvac I am so sorry that you were exposed to Zarda it ranks at the fast food end of our BBQ scale with only KC Masterpiece ranking worse to your taste buds.
My top 4 ranking of BBQ in KC
1. Smokehouse BBQ
2. Fiorella's Jack Stack
3. Haywards Pit
4. Gates
Each one has its own signature flavor and all are top notch.
Sorry but around here BBQ is a religion not a hobby.

Oklahoma Joes BBQ off of 47th and Mission in the Total Gas station is top notch in Kansas City--Cowtown sauce is great. Try the spicy flavor. Next in line is the infamous Smokehouse BB-Q followed by Gates, Arthur Bryant, and Jack Stack. Zarda beans are good but pass on their BBQ

Arthur Bryant's should probably be number 5 but I have had inconsistent quality there so I don't go there offend. Oklahoma Joe's BBQ is far and away better than Zarda but seeing its Oklahoma Joe's It doesn't qualify as KC BBQ in my book. (I have only had lunch at Joe's once)
BBQ is one of those things where you cant say BJ's BBQ is the best there ever was or ever will be but you can say make a list of places that you know you will consistently enjoy and feel your money was well spent.
