What are you guys doing with yt shaft seals with 123... do you pull the charge or do you hit 0 (-) and let her suck... we have a rule for 123 we pull cause of heath hazards... but process plant needs quick turn around...
even with quick hands working around the coupling guard can be a pain and you face is right in it...
any feedback... thanks

Your going to spend as much timer running unloaded and getting the air out as you would if you did it right.

Pull the charge, if you get hung up pulling the seal you are screwed and it will be too late to pull the charge then.

Pull the gas out. I've never heard of anyone changing a shaft seal with the gas in the chiller. Somebody's probably done it, though.
The 0 psi trick is for quickies, like a thermistor, a busted fitting, or maybe swapping the guts in a stuck YT oil reg.

do me a favor and do it on the fly. just make sure you stick your head inside the D flange and breath deep.
