Found a defective condenser fan cycling switch on one of these the other day. Does anyone know if there is a schrader core in the fitting? It is located in the discharge line.Thanks.

Slim you think the schrader could be hit or miss? I think I will just pull the charge and err on the side of caution.

I'd back the flare nut out until I heard a faint hiss, and leave it until the hiss either stopped... or didn't. If it didn't within a reasonable amount of time like a few seconds, I would assume there's no valve core.
Some manufacturers are nice enough to provide you with a label stating whether or not valve cores are installed.
All of their RTU's that I've done has always had schraders on the fan cycle and low pressure switches:cool:
But everytime I do one I'm prepared just in case;)

The unit probably has a schraeder core in it and most earlier equipment also had cores in the high side, but on newer equipment look for a tag on the high pressure side stating that it is a live port. New UL listings consider a core between the high pressure safety switch to be a valve and no longer allowed.

Heads...there is a core
Tails...there is not a core
Assume there is not one just in case...play it safe. Being on the discharge line, it's too close to the weekend to show off your new tatoo from the gas.
