I went down to the gas station ( Tempo ) to have my propane BBQ tank filled and so the attendant started to fill the tank and asked if I would like to go inside and pay while he finishes filling it. I open the hatch and he places the tank in the van, when I got home I thought it was light so I put it on the scale and found out the guy shorted me on 9 pounds. So just a reminder check your BBQ tank weight and see if they are ripping you off.
add the Tare weight stamped on the tank and 20 pounds.

I did not realize that we could still get bulk BBQ propane in Winnipeg, I can't think of any locations in the East or North Kildonan areas that still sell it.
I just go down with my empty tank and trade it in for a refilled one. Next time I will go to Rona when I need one and get the airmiles on my purchase. Shell won't do airmiles unless you get at least $20 gas at the same time.
I like the trade in tank as it eliminates on having to get the tank re-certified or replaced every couple of years and I think the government consumers affairs department inspects the companies providing the tanks to make sure the weight is correct and the tank is still certified.

Maybe he was allowing for expansion, most tanks are filled with pop-off regulator at pump that will only allow so much gas. Maybe his pump is off, I always ask how much did you put in, then I pay for that amount.TEXACO and U-Haul are the only ones around my area that still fill them, you can buy the ones alreay filled but they weigh less too.
I don't do much with gas anymore bought a nice Weber and love to cook out.
