I'm nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rockin chairs. Do you guys mind not having free time on Saturday? I'd like to pile us all on a bus Sat. Morning, and head for the Rocky Mountains. It'll be a long dang day.
Ft Morgan, to Estes Park. http://www.estes-park.com/
over trail ridge road http://www.nps.gov/archive/romo/visit/weather/scenicdrives.html
to grand lake/gramby area http://www.grand-county.com/Grand_Lake.aspx
then back down hill towards Denver to Cenrtal City/Blackhawk http://www.blackhawkcolorado.com/
Then a late night drive through Denver back to the Ft Morgan hotel.

Well everyone has a year to decide. But I say let the option be open. I know I would love to see the sites but the bf likes to sleep late so he may not even be out of bed till noon. Hell if I can get him on a plane I would be good.

No, I just really would like to get you guys up to the mountains. Trail Ridge Road goes to almost 13,000 ft. http://eiu.edu/~cfdfa/Trainbwcv.jpg It's pretty rare to be eye to eye with the clouds and still standing on the ground. 65 miles long through some of the most amazing scenery. One of the top 10 scenic mountain drives in the whole wide world I'm sure. Not going to the rockies while in Colorado would be like going to Vermont and not tasting the syrup, or so I think. Ft morgan has nothing to do or see cept alcohol. I gues I could take ya all arrowhead hunting.

We used to vacation there twice a summer when I was in junior and senior high. The path Jack is proposing has phenomenal views. You will absolutely love the tour. I've made nearly the same loop several times. One of my favorite views is above the visitor center at Rocky Mountain National Park.

Just google earthed Fort Morgan. From the way it looks we can either go to the mountains or watch corn grow. :D To the mountains sounds good.
Spotts many of those green pie things have a slice missing, you been snacking again? :)
Find a lodge in the Rockies we can terrorize for a couple of days. Then we can all drive to your place and terrorize your town on Sunday. :) One day on a bus, and many may not remember seeing the Rockies.

Bus tour sounds GREAT Spotts! And to see the place they filmed 'The Shining' would be kinda interesting in a twisted way... creepy movie IMO.
I kinda like the idea of staying in the mountains for a day or two if that would work out. My suggestion: The place we stay needs a pool and a hot tub! The 'Rocky Mountain High' experience is just not a good thing w/out a hot tub...
I remember a ski trip when I was in my 20's: Ski all day, then sit in the hot tub in the evening with a bottle of wine... and when it got too hot, get out and jump in the snow ... not sure if I could (or would) do that now-a-days, but it was fun back when the body would handle that abuse... :D
Looking forward to next year Spotts, anything I can do to be of assistance please let me know (email is in profile).
The Shining was a great book. The movie was disappointing and Shelly Duvall looks like Olive Oyl.

The host of the convention knows his/her area better then anyone else and should not be nervous about guiding the group in whatever manner he/she feels is best.
The free time on Saturday has been great for 4 conventions. That does not mean it has to be the standard for every convention. This is the beauty of having the convention hosted in an area that a member lives in. The host has the option to do with us what he/she feels is best for drinking and sometimes a bit rowdy good time people.

I would definately come to a convention in Colorado.
It's kinda hard to get to the eastern side of this vast country for a weekend, but according to the pics I saw, that might even be worth it.
Bring it to Colorado and I promise to bring about 30 of the coolest people in the Rockies.

If you're travelling a long ways to a Colorado convention, I'd suggest taking a day or two afterwards to check out Colorado Springs..... Kinda touristy .. but is beautiful with lots to see and do like:
Drive to the top of Pikes Peak (14,208 feet!) or take the Cog Railway to the top.
The Garden of the Gods is beautiful and unique.
Tour the Air Force Academy
Lots of other stuff... just google Colorado Springs and check it out.

This is Matt's HOT Italian Wife, What month in 2008 ? We were going to bring the kid's and rent a RV and go site seeing on the way. Something we've always talk about doing. Also my Aunt and Uncle live in the bay area of California. Matt and I have been there once in 1992 on a plane. We have always wanted to take the kids out there they have never been.
By the way Spott's you have exactly 10 months to get an RV hook up installed for when we pull up...

Hi Guys & Gals,
If you're coming to Colorado make sure you get west of the Continental Divide. That's where the REAL Colorado is, Aspen, Telluride, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, The Colorado River! East of there is just West Kansas! :)

Oh yea, the 'western slope'...... guys, go if you want. Ya know the pack of Wrigleys gum that says .69¢ right on it? They're like 2 bucks over there. Heres a headline that popped up when I googled "aspen gas price".......... Gas prices rise; Aspen prepares for more than $5 per gallon
Aspen’s gas prices are some of the highest in the country, and one local analyst says things are only going to get worse. As you may guess, I don't go there.
Jack. I have Hunted and camped near Meeker and Buford in the White river forrest. I trust your judgement as far as what you plan. Hell I could stay in Ft. Morgan and have fun. Take care

The sealevel dwellers will be having a hard enough time with the altitude in the Denver Area the first few days. Add alcohol and and a trip to the high country and people will be dropping left and right.

Make sure to post pictures of the passed out people who find out too late. That it takes about half as much booze (until acclimated) to get stumbling stupid up high as it does down low.:D
Hopefully a good laugh is all we get. And not something regrettable.
Don't want to sound like a Doom profit.
But I have seen bad things happen to people in the high country, to people in alot better shape and younger than most of us.
