Hello

I hope this question is in the correct place. I am preparing for the 608 test. The 0706EPAWebStudyGuide.pdf from Martin Learning states the following on page 25 under type II appliances:

In order to reduce recovery time and thereby reduce chances for
refrigerant emissions, the technician may choose to recover as much as possible in the liquid phase, which will also minimize the loss in oil.

The prep manual from ESCO institute states the following under type II appliances:

Although recovering refrigerant in the vapor phase will minimize the loss of oil, recovering as much as possible in the liquid phase can reduce recovery time.

Are both statements correct? They seem to contradict each other to me and i'm trying to get a handle on this. Could someone please clarify this for me as to which way minimizes oil loss?

Many thanks for your time

Recovering liquid will increase the amount of oil removed from the system.

ESCO is correct.

beenthere, oddly enough that exact question showed up on my type II test today. Got my universal with a 100, 100, 96, 96.

So thanks again!
