I want to install or have installed either a accuclean or the trane version(fogot its name) in my new furnace which I am deciding on... see my other thread. The trane installer says he won't install the filter because it is on factory recall. This doesn't make sense to me. Is he right? Do I have no choice if I want a whole house filter for my new furnace? Perhaps I should go with the AS contractor for the fact that he is willing to install a filter? Can I install a whole house filter myself after the system is installed? ... this would eliminate the worries about him being willing to install it.

You can have what ever you want installed, in your system I would suggest that maybe do somemore research on different types of filter systems.
Carrier-Air Purifier
Trane -Clean Effects
Or maybe thing of installing reguler 5" pleated filter and U.V. lights .

some people will sell anything to make money, buyer beware....
you as the customer can have what you want put on your system and they will sell it, but do you "need it" or will it work is the question
like the last guy said do some research and find out if that type is under recall and then find a substitute and then use the trane guy because he was completely honest with not selling something bad, that the A/S would, which by the way are the samethings i believe
there are alot of TRANE guys here they will know for sure
and then throw money at him for being who he is and saving you the aggravation of having it redone at some point
and i hope your duct work is sized right for the whole house filter choking your system
Good luck

Try the Aprilaire 5000. I just had it installed and I love it!
