I'm a homeowner with an Trane XV90 air handler so I don't know much but I'm certain that the dip switch setting is dependent on the size of the system. For example, the dip switch settings on a 4-ton system is different than a 2-ton system.

Check the installation guides that came with your system and you should have your answer.

After three years of operation, for the first time I checked my dip switch settings in late winter and they were set incorrectly for both heating and cooling. When my technician came for the PM checkup in late spring, we discussed dip switch settings and he set them correctly at that time.

You cannot assume that the dip switches are correctly set. I would suggest that you check them, make note of the settings, and contact your dealer to confirm the correct settings based on the system size. Have them correct the setting if they are wrong.

mcginkleschmidt is absolutely correct. Dipswitch setting chart depends on several factors and setting chart is attached to inside of control door. For me, it is self explanatory. Unless you are comfortable in making the changes, I suggest you call your installing dealer out to make changes if you believe they are not correct. For some reason, many Trane dealers/techs are not trained properly in this area that really is relatively simple.

Why do you think the setting you have aren't correct?
