I'm looking for an IOM for an older Trane Condensing Unit. Used to have one, but it seems to have grown legs. Units are too old for download from Trane's web site.

Are you sure that is not an RAUCC unit.

Yes, double checked and that's what I copied off nameplate of both machines I was looking at.
I believe that The B would be one generation befor the C series.

Nothing special, I have a cust with ten of these monsters in bad shape, multiple problems with all. Have been hacked badly over the years. Would like a copy of the manual so I can do my homework and begin to resurrect these things. I can get one from Trane, but I won't see it for a week, I was hoping somebody knew where I could dig one up to have for Monday.

this will keep you out of troule for a while,i am going to guess at what the controlling is there.2 cans total 4 stages of cooling....W973 system with the panel in the condenser with a gold colored honeywell ramping stat with 2 red leds on it located in the space or on the return of the AHU.get back on here and let us know whats running it and if your not familiar with the above system .....ask away.http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/5003/raub1qa5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Units are being used for ventilation of a max security correctional facility. Return is 100% Outside air with steam preheat and reheat supplied from a central powerhouse. W973 and pneumatics were removed 4 years ago and controls converted to a computerized ATC, whose I am not yet certain. I think (hope?) they are controlling the stages off of DAT.
VAV boxes have been gutted and pneumatic controls abandoned in place. Piping to ahu's has been redone and in my estimation is a large part of the problem. EPR valves have all been spun to the bottom of their range and as such are no longer functional. I am told that there may be as many as 15 bad compressors and of the three units on the roof I was on yesterday only one of the six compressors appeared to be cycling normally, two more looked like the iceberg that sank Titanic and the other three were blown. The question is not so much what's wrong as it is what isn't wrong.
On-site maint staff tells us that the system worked well with the exception of the pneumatic controls, which had suffered from age and neglect, until the Engineers showed up 4 years ago and brought in a contractor to re pipe all the refrigeration lines and upgrade to electronic ATC.
I'm thinking this is going to be a long road, so I may well take you up on your offer of advice if you are familiar with these old units. For now I'm in kind of a holding pattern until we find out exactly what they want to do.
Thanks.

i would be interested to here from you where that DAT sensor is located down from those DX coils, and how much time off/on they have on the load/unloading of those compressors thru BAS.it being 100% OA that is pretty much consistant as the day goes on..and when those Ks burn up man do they cook!before the summer is out you wil be an expert on those controls within the condenser and how they sound when running right.the units that are running you might want to megger the compressors and do oil test on all systems even the dead ones to get a starting point.get your self a note book and dedicated 5 pages per unit MODEL /SERIAL,LOCATION ...etc info. as you go and that book will be you backup in the coming months.

LOL!
Yeah, but as long they pay me every friday, I'll keep doing what they tell me.
They are actually starting to branch out and we've got a decent crew now, so it's not as bad as it used to be.

We have a couple of guys over there cleaning all the coils and reheats and getting the blowers running right, should take them at least a week before we even think about starting to troubleshoot further. I think somebody is going to be camping there for the rest of the summer. Should be interesting.
I'll let you know if we find anything out of the ordinary.

Hello,
I see someone has access to archived Trane Manuals. If at all possible, I need Wiring Schematics to Trane's RAUB units from approx 1987, 30 ton outdoor condenser- single hermetic compressor with unloaders. We have many of these to maintain at one location. Trane distributor is too busy to provide, Trane Regional wants the name of our sales rep, which they should already have, salesman is helpless- but I don't want to mess with his job. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to contact the Trane local sale office. They have a system called Eagle with soft copy of such IOM in CDs.
