For those of you that own the Bosch pocket driver or I driver, Bosch has just come out with a version that has a little more power.
I got one of these yesterday & love it.

:) When I first got it I was going to take it back, until I fully charged a battery. I wear it with the holster when I do roof top contracts, and it is awesome for installs. Highly recommend

now that might just replace my I-driver. if not it will at least complement it nicely. and at 800 in-lb thats just 400 in lb less than my dewalt 18volt so not bad power.

BTW. Can't believe that NCI cancelled the training in Cleavland, only 3 signed up.

Found it at Home Depot, Packaging had a free holster to carry it in.. nice bonus.
Tip:
I took a 1x6 and cut it about 15 inch's long.. mounted my Dewalt automotive charger, Bosch 120v charger, 1000watt invertor, 4outlet power strip..
Set it up in on the front floor passenger side. to run; drill, impact, chargers and power invertor for the laptop, printer, plam and cell charging. Maybe others have done something similar. Please feel free to add suggestions.
Stay Gold,:)

Probably not a good choice for deck screws and such, but it works *really* well on Zip screws and tek screws.

Just got that Bosch 10.8v Impactor and love it. Thought it was a little too loud at first but got use to noise and kinda like the nosie now! It is great at getting rusted scews out, replacing heat x-changers getts into other places that my 24v won't. Ive been using it all week replacing unit heaters and ive never put flue pipng together so easy.:D
My next will be the I -driver.. unless they come out with something cooler:D

The only think that kinda sucks about it is when it get cold out the battery will die. :(But if u warm it up it comes back to life. Are the I-driver and pocket driver like that too?

I am in the market for an impact driver and I do like the 10.8 bosch it just doesn't look like it could stand up to everyday use, and accidental drops. Ive been using dewalt for about 7 years now and ive put my current 14.4 xrp through hell and no problems. I have my eye on the Milwaukee 18v lithium combo kit. I love the fact that it has little slots for bits plus it has more power. anybody have one?

I bought the Makita Lithium 18V impacter in a kit the other day for 369.00 at Menards. 2 York rtu heat exchangers later and the battery is still kickin. That's about 600 bazillion screws, I think. Love it already. The rest of te rools in the kit was a hammer drill and sawzall and of course, the flashlight.

I brought a Craftsman 20v lithium ion about 2 weeks ago and it rocks. I drilled a couple 2 1/2" holes and it didn't even drag the battery down at all. The sawzaw burns up the juice though.

My boss got me one of those, in addition to the low weight and power, it is FAST.
Between the Makita 18v impact, and my Bosch I-Driver, I rarely ever use a nut driver or ratchet wrench anymore.
Still have to keep my DeWalt 18v around for drilling holes in concrete, masonry, and running paddle and auger bits though.

I'm not sure whats happening with yours but I have had my I driver out in below 0*f and had no problems with it working. I would be interested in hearing what Bosh has to say about it working in these temps. I wonder if you have simply let yours go to long without a charge I change batterys every friday wether it needs it or not.
Good luck all

Bosch 10.8 working strong at 73 outside. Glad I live in Florida! Did however melt the handle grip on my Ryobi impact driver on the roof this summer. Love the Ryobi b/c of the 12v charger they make. Hope Bosch comes up with this.:)

Small inverter.
Ryobi makes a car charger for 18v, Talked to the Bosch man at Home Depot and his only comment was "that would be cool". I hate using an inverter because of the drain on the battery. I have 2, 1 600w and 1 1800w. Either runs the 10.8v charger for Bosch. As far as I know Ryobi makes the only car charger out.

I haven't had any problem running them into sheet metal with my I-Driver, even 18 gauge, but it is far from my first choice of tools to use for it, so if I need to run more than couple of self tappers, I get my Makita impact driver.
I haven't used the Bosch impact driver, but it looks like its "no load" RPM is slower than the I-Driver, so likely wouldn't be to hot for starting self tappers.
The Makita 18v impact driver runs self tappers in super fast.

I know Makita, DeWalt and Milwaukee all make chargers that plug into a cigarette lighter socket.
Unless the tool battery is less than 12v, or you charge with the engine running, the 12v tool battery will never recharge fully from an idle vehicle battery.
Unless the car charger has some type of built in inverter, the 18v+ batteries will never recharge on a 12v vehicle system.
A small inverter is the only way to go- 300 watts will do the job (and 300w is the biggest that can be safely run from the cigarette socket).

They have a lifetime warranty because they are cheap tools made in China.
Home Depot is not inder any obligation to exchange your tool or battery on the spot in the store when it breaks for a new one- you gotta send it in (of course, final decision is made by the store manager).
Read the fine print for that warranty.

Mark you might want to take another look the bosch impactor has a no load rpm of 0-1800 with 800 in lb of torq. where the I-Driver has 0-600 rpm with 80 in lb of torq.
tool monger did a good review of the impactor you might want to take a gander.

I use rigid and i love them. I bout the 14v drill at homedepot with 2 batteries and a 20min charger about a year ago. its not cheap to me, dewalts are overrated, too heavy for my use, the rigid is just a strong imo. i can put deck screws though pressure treated lumber all day.
I dont use it all day long so i cant tell you how long the battery lasts. I dont even see a need to get the 18v rigid atm. There line of lithium ion drills are out though

The Bosch Impactor will run self tappers just fine, but it is slightly slower at the task than my 12v Makita impact.
It doesn't like running self tappers into much of anything heavier than a couple of layers of 20ga. I wouldn't use it to fasten something like a roof curb to a steel roof deck.

Well I had my first run in this morning with the cold battery. I keep my main tool bag in the house with all my meters and Bosch 10.8. Just so that if they break into the truck I still have my main tools to work.
Now the tool bag had been in the house all weekend and was taken out to the truck this morning and off to the shop. From there I had a 45 minute drive to my first call and the Bosch just boged down when I went to take the bolts off the Goodman combustion door. Out comes the 5/16 nut driver and left the Bosch sitting on top of the furnace. By the time I was ready to use it again it was fine. Back of truck stays cold even with the floor to roof steel divider in place. Even my cell phone battery was acting up this afternoon out in the cold.

the milwaukee driver is the same size as my bosch.
it is a lil smaller than the rigid, in the aspect that it uses a locking hew end instead of the traditional jacobs chuck.
the milwaukee has more power, 12volt battery versus the bosch's 10.8 volt battery. the milwaukee also has more rpm's and a nice little battery meter luminated in red lights on the side next to the trigger. makes it nice because you can see how much is in the battery before you make that long trek to a rooftop unit or the PITA bely crawl to the AH under the house :) its price should be the same if not a lil less than the bosch driver :) i bought both of mine at the same time :) used the bosch once or twice, not impressed with it at all.

Actually there the same voltage 12V when fully charged and 10.8V during normal use:p As Bosch as now chaged from the 10.8 to "12V MAX" to compete with all the other 12V drill's that are really 10.8V.
That being said I would buy the Milwaukee if your looking for a driver as it is alot better than the bosch driver. But the Impactor is a sweet tool if you live in Florida... I have retired mine for the winter it useless when it's cold:mad:

mine sits on the truck all the time, hot, cold, whatever. last few mornings it has been down in the mid to low 30's here and mine came right off the truck at 730am and busted screws right out of the panels :) i did notice that i had lost a few rpm's :( but it still did it's job :)

The new makita 10.8 impact and drill drivers dont get effected by the cold that i have noticed. One of our service techs bout a set and they have worked fine so far, work with another guy who had the bosch 10.8, tried to coat trick and still couldn't get the drill to last longer than 10 min in 22 degree weather, my makita 18v impact was still alive and kickin though :D
