I Had a upflow furnace blower not running call about 30 days ago 5/23/07. Found the blower motor hot and running slow' with high amps. Tested the run capacitor, tested bad, rated at 10mfd getting 0/open. Oh ya' the filter was plugged solid, After installing new cap and filter, the motor ran fine.

Today found blower not running. Tested the new run capacitor, only getting 2.5 mfd's. Suggest replacing the motor or I would replace the run Cap under warranty and give Bid to replace blower motor. My question is why did the capacitor fail? other than I installed a bad run cap.

Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately capacitors are poorly made these days because they got away from pcb's. I would use a 440 vac rated cap the next time if you're not already using them.

I replace it with the 440 volt rated capacitors. I guess, will see how it does. Thanks again, Steve
