View Full Version : Dodgers Game.
Recently in the news. Canadian fan who waved flag during game between dodgers an blue jays was told to stop waving it and security attempted to confiscate his Canadian flag. This was not a "banner or sign" I've got a feeling this incident is going to get a few people in that stadium fired. What do you think?

Unless there was a concern for security, it seems pretty silly. Our society has become so uptight over national, religous and morality pride that we are plumeting head long into the utopian world of Socialism.
Was this game in the States or in Canada?

Does it matter?
People wave all sorts of national flags at the olympics and other international games, what makes a Base ball game mutually exclusive to this practise?

You are quite familiar with how it feels to have your "ass handed to you"... It seems like anytime you engage someone around here, they school your ass, kind of like I just did.

I'll cut some slack to the Canadian flag. They are not invading us. Just as long as it wasn't the Mexican flag. That would get my goat. Also the Puerto Rican flag gets under my skin a little also.

You guys have got some sticks way to far up your butts:confused:
It was an international game, no matter where it was being played. Any persons of a country participating in an international game should certainly have the right to show support for their country.
Unless there was some rule that no flags could be displayed, which to me would be stupid, this incident should never have become an incident.
Is there a link for this happening? Are we sure the OP isn't mistaken or just stirring a pot?

I guess it goes back to my Army days. I knew one PR that was a theif and a screaming idiot. I had him court martialed for refusing to obey an order. And when I was in NY I saw more PR flags than American. It happened to be the weekend of the annual PR parade in the city. My point is if they are as much American as I am then why do they fly that flag all the time?

Probably for the same reason all those pesky white people from the south enjoy flying that "stars and bars" flag, and actually get into a tizzy when a certain state decided to remove it from it's state flag...
Probably for the same reason people from Hawaii like to proclaim it with tons of "hang loose" and "100% Hawaiian" type of stickers on their cars, etc.
Probably for the same reason some Texans fly their state flag with pride, even when they live in, say, Arizona...

Well we made sure Gov Barnes wasn't elected for a second term after that and installed the 1st Republican governor since Reconstruction in GA. Also we got rid of that sorry rag he had to replace it and the put in another new flag while not the great stars and bars it was the offical flag of the Confederacy. I guess the PRs can wave their flag and I'll still wave the stars and bars at NASCAR races.

Well, it was an incident and the Dodger stadium rules are stupid;
Flag waving "causes the fans, at times, to become aggressive toward each other. ... It's a zero tolerance policy," Rosenberg said, adding that the same rule would apply to the U.S. flag. Banners featuring the L.A. Dodger logo are exempt.
A flag is a banner.
Just goes to show that rules create rule breakers.
