Ha ha! Finally somebody I can ask. I saw on a remodel show once somebody build a sundeck that wasnt attached to their house. You'd walk out the door, across the lawn, then onto the sundeck. I thought "Now why would somebody do that???" So I'll ask you Jeff, why would somebody build one like that? Maybe around here we never have soggy lawns from rain. It's the only reason I can think of.

You build the deck detached because the the back deck falls under the wifes foo foo girly area with dumb gnomes and dead and almost dead plants . There is usually a clear understanding that she is not allowed on it without permission.

This woodfired grill is in a restaurant I am doing t&b on right now. This (under a vent hood) is the ultimate woodfired grill. The grates are sloped toward you.The 3 drawers on the bottom are for ash collection ofcourse. The drawers have pieces of 45 degree stainless angle spanning the gaps between them. Reckon how much it cost new? $2500?

Yup! That's pretty much what I remember. Except when I was there I saw a Coors Light beer can along the road that I thought was interesting. :p

Jack back east we don't call them crooked back yards. "Crooked" refers to our politicians. It is "unlevel" backyards. FYI.

One good thing about having the deck detached like Jay has it, is that when he gets all those grilles going he will only take out the deck and not burn down the entire house.

No, Jack, It is a beauty. It has built in lights behind the dials for night cooking. Total of 6 burners. You can't hear the rotisserie motor. They thought everything out. I know that this unit will last until they put me in the home.:)

Not refrigerated but they are insulated then it goes into a cold plate.

If you are serving pasturized beer (generic mass produced stuff) you might be able to get away with that. If you are serving homebrew then it might give some off flavors as the warm beer waiting in the line for you next bbq goes "off" in flavor. They make a system with two ducts, one inside the other, with the first one being a supply with the beer lines in it, and the second one being a return going back to the fridge. A blower moves the air through the system.

I have to go downstairs to refill my glass.

That Oklahoma was one of my wifes flea market finds. The guy was asking $75 bucks and she got it for $50. When this thing originally sold new it was over $500 bucks and there's not a thing wrong with it. She has a gift of finding cool stuff. She found a 12 gauge shot gun for me one time and got the guy down to $25 bucks on it. Best shooting gun I have.

that was last year at the American Royal BBQ compitition. It's one of the largest comps in the nation. Last year there was just under 500 teams. I won't say we did the best but we did break into the top half. It was our first year and we weren't really up to speed and did things by the seat of our pants. We're doing it again this year. If you happen to be in KC the first weekend of October stop on by, it's a mad house.

Know that winter is over, the time has changed, and spring is almost here (at least for us who live north you southerners get it all year long) any new grills out there.

No new grille for me. I paid $1300 bucks for my VT Castings grille last year. The wife said that she is going to bury me in it. (cremate me first I guess).

They only thing that I'd like to change on my grill is to convert the light from battery operated to 120V. AC.

I'm sure you of you guys have done this already so give it up.:)

There is a 115v cord that needs to be plugged in from the grill. It makes the lights and rotisserie work. ;)

My rotisserie is 115 v of course but the dail lights and grille lights run off a battery pack. I think 8 of them AA's. I just ordered a 120/9V converter for 10 bucks so I can do some 'sperimentin'

It worked great!!! Now I never need batteries for the lights.

Makes me wonder why VT Casting doesn't sell this converter as an option.

THAT...is a serious smoker. Vulcan had a yard sale, right?:)

I bought my Char Griller Outlaw 3 weeks ago as a damaged outdoor display, the savings going towards the side firebox and burner. It was a beast to move around until I added two handles taken from a cheap post hole digger and swapped out the cheesy wheels ---Char Griller's only failing point--- for ones off of my old Weber.

Thanks...as for the fishing, I believe it's the perfect torture method for an active mind like mine. Gimme a stick of dynamite and a dip net and we'll be back home in time for lunch with plenty to spare for dinner.:D:D:D

I like my Weber Performer. Inexpensive, gas lighter for the wood chunks, and smokes like crazy.

The only downfall it that you have to baby sit it to maintain the temps, but with a beer in one hand that ain't so bad :)

One day i'll have the money for a Big Green Egg.

This grill is older than most of you guy's here. It came from my husbands parents farm in Iowa. It is a Falcon gas grill. We can still get parts for it..It's 42 years old and can cook some good food. Hubby had to re weld some parts on it and put new wheels on her but my thinking is I wish I had all the money spent for meat in all these years. It may not be pretty but it's a fantastic grill..still has all it's original wood ( side, bottom & handle )..hope it stays with the family for more years to come :D

Ken was the deciding factor to me buying my Vt. Casting grille. It better last me 42 years for what it cost!!! :eek2: If I don't make it 42 years my kids can have me cremeated in it. :patriot:

You did a nice job enclosing the deep fryer. You didn't have it enclosed or the griddle the last time I was there.
