This old guy, maybe in his 80's had a seazed condenser motor. I walk up to the unit and the compressor is still running and water is pouring out of the front of the unit. I'm thinking... What is going on here??? I look to the back of the unit and the guy's got a garden hose stuck in there pouring water over the condenser coils. I go in the house and it's cool in there. The air handler is blowing cool air! God bless the old guy... He wasn't about to go without his AC!

I can't help it if you never heard of a water cooled condenser!

:D Oh now that is funny! It doesn't seem like that window fan would get enough heat out of there though to keep the compressor from locking up. Perhaps a high velocity house fan??? Better quit before I get myself in trouble....:)

You seem confused. What to you mean, get yourself in trouble? The poor fellow needed the fan height in order to reach to and clean out his gutters. :D

Oh hell, you caught me! While that's not my unit in the picture, I did pull this stunt a few months back, but I used a drum fan instead of a box fan when fan motor died and it was after hours.

I notice that MOST of the fins face the wall and limit air flow.....
