I have a condo that has an Intercity HVAC unit in it. No one seems to be able to give me info on it. It is old and needs to be changed out completely.
I am only needing to make sure I am going to get the correct unit to replace it.
I found the model and serial numbers. I even contacted Intercity off of their website, sent an email and left a message with no response back yet, and I need to get this unit replaced, ASAP.
The mod & ser#'s that I found are: It is a Forced Air Electric, BTW.
Mod# U2430V-15
Manufct# DU 2430V
Series# L-921149276
I Googled all of these numbers and came back with nothing and could not find in Preston's Guide Book.
I assume it is a 3ton, 92K btu's. (This is the info I need to know to order the correct replacement.)
Could someone please help.
Thank you

no, from looking at this thing, I would say it is the original unit. This condo was built abt 1974. The FAE is in horrible condition.

I'm not an expert, but that looks like a 2-2.5 ton evaporator coil, manufactured in 1992.

uuuuuuummmmm, no, I don't think I mentioned anything about a warrrrrnty. Think I mentioned that the ENTIRE UNIT needed to be REPLACED, pretty sure. You may want to reread it, however. Some keywords highlighted.
thanks-

it is made in 92 maybe installed in 93. what is your indoor unit info?
if you replace that unit you will need to replace the indoor coil as well. how many square foot and what city?
you can replace it with any brand, there are many good and several brands out there. And most important is get a good contractor to install, cause a great unit can be crap if installed wrong.
I would get 3-4 prices and go with the middle price, but thats just me.

I can understand asking about the location, but what does square footage have to do with this?

this is the inside unit. it is a forced air electric unit.
the condenser, which is the outside component, is a 2.5 ton Goodman, just replaced. the inside of this condo is roughly 1200 sq ft in a midsouth state.

Who cares what the size/information on the existing system is? No action should be taken until a Manual 'J' calculation is done, period. Once you know the needed load, then you can progress to assessing the duct system and from there you can reasonably begin equipment selection. Taking the info from the old unit assumes the original installers did the loads correctly, installed equipment accordingly and that nothing has changed since the original installation. That is, no windows or doors changed, no insulation changes, no awnings, no additional buildings that provide shade, etc. Do it right and pay with your checkbook or do it wrong and pay forevermore with discomfort.
