We are converting a Trane Centravac to operate on r123 from r11. Trane parts tell me that the existing Purge can operate with either r11 or r123. From experience with Redipurge products a conversion kit is required. Am I getting correct info from Trane?

As far as I know the purge is compatable, however you can make upgrades w/ how the venting is set up, and also larger purge pumps can be increased in size. Expansion valves can be upgraded and so forth.

RediPurge proabably does need a conversion because it is a POS, the Trane purifier, which redipurge stole some of its ideals from does not need converting.

The purge will be fine. Be a wise idea to change the drier cores while doing the conversion. Also note, If the is an older model purge where the cores are located inside the purge/evap shell, The gasket must be changed with a R-123 compatible gasket.

Is it a purifier purge? or is it an oilless purge Belt driven h20 application? Purifier should be able to change the cores & be ok. If it is the older model oilless purge you'd need to overhaul it as well. Replace the gaskets.
