Hello,
What is the airflow (CFM) of Trane's air handler model TWN030C100A1? I need to purchase a new heat pump system and have found this site very useful in researching the recommendations made by the three contractors that have given me estimates for replacing my system. Thank you for your time and effort.

It should be about 1000 cfm's, if your doing 2 1/2 tons.

TWN is a heat pump, not an air handler.

Yea, but it still blows air. :)

Sorry, I’ve got too many notes with numbers on them. I verified the model number of the current air handler and it is TWV030B140A1. I'm debating whether to go with a single spd or var spd air handler. One contractor is recommending a var spd model TWE037E1F which is a 1/2 ton larger than the heat pump 2TWR3030A. He’s recommending this because I'm using hot water as my back-up. I would think that any air handler with the same CFM capability as my current air handler would be the correct one to use. This is why I was asking for the CFM of my current air handler. Thanks again.

Get your hands on the manual for that unit and check the blower performance chart. Remember that the airflow depends on the static pressure on the fan (ESP). Best idea is to measure the ESP on the system, most units are rated at 0.5" w/c and the airflow varies as the ESP increases or decreases.
