Not meaning to be critical but if you keep getting the same stories perhaps you need to rethink a few things. Good luck in finding a new job. It's never a pleasant thing to lose a job and tell the wife and kids. I once got "laid off" because I was getting paid journeyman formans wages and the boss decided to hire his 22 year old son and keep costs down ( yeah right). Two months later the kid burned a building down cause he didn't know how to properly braze. I was hired back with a $2.00 and hour increase over what the union required.

I'm really not so sure things are working out for me either right now. I had a "talk" with the owners on Wednesday... I could tell one wanted to get rid of me, and the other one (the one that matters) wants to keep me around, so long as we can make some changes w/ how I'm doing things.
The real question I have is will I be able (or do I even want to) keep my head in the game knowing that I'm not up to their standards? I don't know if I have the drive to try and redeem myself. I've made my share of mistakes, but I'm not a totally bad technician... I've had a real crappy run of luck here lately...
I've got a couple of irons in the fire right now, and one that looks very promising with a big union shop out of Orlando. We'll see what happens.
Good luck, refrigerationtech. Hope it works out for you.

what you should do rather then posting here looking for a job you should give the UA 787 a call tomorrow and talk to one of the business agents. They will be able to tell you what the job situation is like.

What I finally realize is that, after loosing 2 jobs in 9 months, and 1 after only 3 days, is that, They were the problem, they did me a favor, Im with a larger company, no more little "family" type shops, and they have about 20 techs, Im doing about the same overall, as the other guys, for speed and knowledge, so it wasnt me, I just was desperate, and choose poorly because of it. If I had the same problem several times, then I would look at myself closer to see what I needed to do, some people will really knock you down if you let them--dont!, let them!

Thats right people will knock you down, that is part of being a manager or owner. Knock the guys down and lift them up a little that way they never feel like they are worth a whole lot. This way the guys feel like they owe the manager or owner there life.
I wish people would realize their value and quit selling themselves short, give the company a good days work and not their life.
Times are good right now by the time you realize you need a union it will be too late.

Since all companies aren't the same. But you keep getting the same thing.
Youor taking the problem with you.
A union isn't going to change that. You must change the problem.

give it the best effort you can muster while actively looking for another job - I believe the rot has set in and the mgr that wants rid of you is waiting for an excuse to dump you just a matter of time. No one is perfect you will make a mistake we all do it. just do your best and make sure your truck is cleaned out wehn you hand your notice in just in case they show you the door right away. good luck greener pastures

Your post is a little hard to decipher. What was the specific reason for termination?

Looks like I'm officially unemployed as well. There were a total of 3 service techs (one was the owner) and he basically said "I wish I could keep you. But this is a small company and I need an experienced tech."
I totally understand. I tried my best, made mistakes and learned from them. He was wanting a 3-5 year guy to begin with, so we both new that I would have to pick up on things quick. I've never been fired from any job before and I do NOT like this feeling.
The boss suggested I get on with one of the larger companies and said "don't hesitate to put me down as a reference. You definitely have potential." So it seems like I bit off more than I can chew. Schooling only does so much, but going from resi to commercial A/C to ice machines to Walk-ins and trying to be fast cuz the boss keeps calling you and there are other jobs to get to...
I guess it takes some time to get used to.
