1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are more of a threat than nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iran or Chinese and North Korean communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV'S.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but PETA activists do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

12. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

13. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

14. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.

15. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.

16. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

To answer your question, I LEARNED those lines (that I typed) from observation when I lived in the hotbed of liberals (that is, a suburb of Wash DC). Yes Tinker, I have been there, I have observed, I have debated, and I have formed my own conclusions from first hand evidence; NOT from biased and lieing media, nor from smoke screen websites that while they talk a good line are really in it for a profit (and will print anything to make a buck).

So tell us Tinker: What statement in this thread can you refute with provable historical information? Mind you, not a link to a deffinition from a dictionary, or a link to a far left underground website. Rather, references to multiple historians of esteem and honor, and to provable patterns of behavior that have both repeated themselves and that repetition is documented.

Abortion, on the other hand, is murder. That 'fetus' as the medical business likes to call him/her, is a living human being. And to just say... Naa, not convenient, is not respecting life.

Tinker, given that post... you of all people calling me a sheep in my thinking is just ridiculous. Open your eyes and look beyond what 'feels good' guy, or you may get labeled the goof that you are acting like.

I refer to 'foundational principles' when I talk about things being not trendy. Sure there are popular ideas that come and go in politics. But the common sense of conservative thinking (as opposed to flakey liberal thinking) has not changed much in decades, actually centuries.

Example: If a bully taunts the playground, someone that is big enough (read that both strong enough AND that has the will to do something about it) has to go over there and deal with the bully. And the bully will NOT go away (they will get worse) until someone deals with it.

A conservative understands this, and has the (insert name of male body part) to 'just do it'. A liberal, on the other hand, gets all teary eyed and worries about feelings, rather than dealing with the problem.

And do not send along that crap about the war not being legitimate. That has already been debated on another thread.

Remember this Tinker: The members of the military VOLUNTEERED to be there. And when you VOLUNTEER for military duty, you do not get to choose your war. You do as you are told. It is called respect for authority, something you do not understand.

One learns maturity by being UNDER authority. And one cannot be effective IN authority until AFTER one has learned to be UNDER authority; something you have not learned as of yet.

So Tinker, you need to go back yet again, and learn those basic lessons that most men learn by the time they reach puberty. If you do, you may grow into a man. Until you do, you will always be a misfit...

I agree Mark about the 'catchy little phrases', and the parroting. But I also think that everyone learns 'something' sooner or later (and some waaay later). TinkerBell shows an ability to see a little, yet he keeps falling back into behaving like, well, the class misfit. Someday he will see a little light. Until then, debating with him is kinda amusing.

Agreed. You may be correct in believing there is hope for him. Unfortunately, my nature just doesn't allow me the same compassion. Although it is difficult to tell by his posts, I am assuming he is in the 30-40yr old range. Being a slow learner when you're young is definitely a hurdle to overcome. When you reach my age group of the aforementioned 30-40yrs, your hurdling days are nearly over.

I will also agree that debating with him is fun. Hell, I find myself laughing out loud usually. I used to work with a fanatical liberal and loved debating with her. She honestly sat in her office and cried for half the day until finally going home when they announced Bush had been re-elected. But I digress. My point is that she also had one or two arguments she would stick to no matter what kind of facts or reality you showed her, and would eventually just leave in a huff because she couldn't sway my way of thinking over to hers.

Agreed. You may be correct in believing there is hope for him. Unfortunately, my nature just doesn't allow me the same compassion. Although it is difficult to tell by his posts, I am assuming he is in the 30-40yr old range. Being a slow learner when you're young is definitely a hurdle to overcome. My sister's mother-in-law works every election. Her and a group of other older volunteer ladies. They have to complete training before every election and most of them are there at least 1/2 hour before polls open until after they close. The only thing barbaric about the death penalty is the fact it isn't utilized in a more frequent and expedient manner. Joe Crime kills a family, then suckles on America's taxes for the next 15 years while submitting frivolous appeals. Should be when you're found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, they take you right outside the courtroom and shoot your a$$ in the street for all to see. You murder someone and are found guilty beyond all reasonable doubt, you reap what you sow. Our justice system is WAY too soft on criminals of all types.
