I currently have (4) PEH079-AAAA 350 ton centrifugal chillers. One has sadly left us.

I am looking at replacing the beast and possilby one other one. What are your suggestions for a suitable replacement as to ensure compatibility with my other (2) machines?

I am working outside of the US, so unfortunately I will not buy from any of you, but I like to be armed and somewhat knowledgable when I speak to these outside companies. I looked at the website, and with my limited knowledge, I think something like the WPV series?

Any constructive input is welcomed.

You may contact me via this thread or via email if you like.

Mods - If this thread is in violation of your rules, I apologize. Please delete and contact me. I am not looking for pricing, only suitable replacement suggestions. Other mfg. are welcome to chime in also.

I suggest a good look at a Carrier 19XR or 19XRV.

Thanks for the responses so far. I will look up the information on the Carrier units.

From Japan, I heard that absorbers are really big over there. I would personally follow the advice you got on the xrv's. They are the best most reliable on the market I think. We have put alot of these machines in and only problems with one, and it wasn't related to the machine but to incoming power source.

I would stay with a company that is still into large tonnage chillers like Trane, JCI/York, or McQuay. Buy a York first if not that then another McQuay last comes Trane ( R123 makes your Balls grow big ) I would forget about Carrier. There stuff in my oppion is real junk the control panel blows and they are more worried about sale's to home owners then large tonnage chillers. But hey its just a thought. I worked for McQuay so if you have any questions fire away maybe I can answer them. If not other here can.

WPV350 is a good choice for replacement, footprint should match well to the existing PEH chillers.

The WPV350 is what I have been reading up on and I agree it would be the easiest swap out. I may actually be changing out (2) of them while I am asking for the money. These units are already 10 years old. I appreciate all of the replies so far.

Before you guys jump on me. I do not have anyone to call to do this for me. I have contacted the local reps and they can not help. My techs are at a loss, and I need to get this done.

Pumping down a McQuay centrifugal chiller. I understand close off all liquid line valves. I have set the unit to manual and changed the setting on the control to pumpdown. Here is what happens. I get an alarm for "running low Evap Temp" Unit switches from Pumpdown "yes" to "no" automatically.

Is there something that I am possibly forgetting? Or something that I may be doing incorrectly?

I would appreciate any help with this. I have contacted my nearest McQuay rep (singapore) and have yet to recieve an answer.

You really need to know what your doing to pump down a McQuay Chiller. You can get into trouble very fast. Freeze a tube
or damage the motor. If your techs are lost call McQuay Factory
Tech Support they should be able to help you out. You can get the number from your McQuay Rep.

Thanks! I was on the phone for a while this morning with Singapore and they said it sounds as though I am doing everything right, but they will contact the main office and get back to me!

I appreciate your reply.
