I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The drive on one of my 19xr's (We have 3), burned up, while checking for causes I found that the TXV sensing line (refer cooled drive), was run right next to and touching the Drive Bus, a little vibration on the plastic guard covering the copper sensing and POW, it shorted the drive out and melted the sensing line for the TXV in half

I have an xrv with a blown up drive right now. Started with two boards gone, brought power up to let oil warm up, and boom, let all the magical smoke out. Carrier Houston has only lost a couple of drives in the last five or so years. What brand of drive do you have?

We have Reliance drives on all 3 of our xrv's. They have been pretty solid, but whoever decided to run the thermal bulb line for the TXV right next to and touching the Drive bus is a bone head. They were run this way on all 3 of our Chillers. Needless to say I have re-routed the line on the burned up unit, when I replaced the TXV. Carrier came out to look at it but maintains that there have been no other problems with the drives due to the routing of the TXV line. I don't have a problem with failures, however when you look at the TXV and you can see an alternate way to run the sensing line and the reason the drive went down was directly related to how it was put together rather than board failure etc. it makes you wonder. I work for the state and this is moving toward litigation. To be honest I just want the thing fixed whether we pay or not, it's getting close to summer!
