Here is one of my grilling secrets!!
One bundle of good healthy Asparagus
http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/i/asparagus.jpg
one clove Garlic
http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/images/garlic1.jpg
about 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
http://www.authentic-italy.co.uk/images/olive_oil.jpg
and
2 Tbs of Old bay

Trim asparagus to a managable size, and to remove any woody parts.
Remove skin from garic and mince
combine Garlic and Asparagus with the Oil and Old bay seasoning. Let this marinate for a few hours in the fridge.
Fire up the grill, and get ready to cook your other stuff, but reserve about ten min. of grilling time towards the end for the green goodness...
Slap the marrinated asparagus on the grill and pour the marinade over the stuff. let it cook until tender (with grill marks)
serve imediatly!!
Enjoy. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

I'll try it, the only way I know to cook the stuff is steamed,.. then quick butter/fry finished with black pepper and a little salt. Asparagus is an under-rated vegetable for taste IMHO.

If you don't drink beer when you are cooking then there is no reason to cook.

Is this a trick question? It's always OK to drink beer when grilling any veggie...Unless you're Roscoe, who has some sort of continance problem with eating veggies.
Roscoe, ya gotta get the right nutrition if veggies give ya the squirts. Your doctor might be able to help.

I have one simular- place the cleaned stalks in a gallon bag, pour in a couple of tablespoons of good olive oil in, sprinkle a little lemon pepper and shake to coat. And please, please, PLEASE, don't cook it until it wilts. A medium temp grille for about 7-10 minutes is good for tender crisp with nice char for character. Some good eats!

This could be a whole new religion...I'm starting a new website, drinkbeerwhileyoucookchurch.com

Asparagus is great. Six years ago planted some Purple Passion variety. Sweetest variety I have tried. I'll have to try this recipe on it.

I always broil asparagus with olive oil and salt until crispy on the extremities and is soooo good. This sounds even better! I will try it this weekend.

I just made this version tonite, and yep!! It's good too!!
Goes good with wild salmon cooked on a cedar plank!!!
Cedar plank, wild salmon (from the Clackamas river) and some wild grown dill and garlic... It does not get any less Northwest than that!!!

I just did Asparagus for the first time the other day. Cut the bottom 1" off and cut them in half and just threw them in the frying pan with lots of butter and salt. My wife loved them.

Another easy way to prepared the asparagus is to cut it to the size you want and place it in tinfoil. Add a little butter, some sea salt and then either fresh garlic or a little minced garlic. Stick in the oven at 350 for about 10 minutes. Comes out just right. I may just have to try the grilled way too. Sounds awesome

Now wrap three Pieces of Asparagus in Prosciutto ..or Regular bacon....Just the Botton half of the Asparagus....then Grill....
The Prosciutto or Itailan cured bacon....is wonderful....It's about $14.99 a pound...sliced real thin, Great for wrapping food....Like
asparagus.
Shrimp.
Scallops.
Green Beans.
Chicken Pieces.
Mushrooms.
All kinds of mellon's.
Hot Dogs.
Sweet Potatoes.
Duck Breasts.
Here is a Great Treat to Cook on the Grill in the Morning for Breakfast or Brunch.....Take an old Cupcake pan....{Make sure it's an old one or you'll get yelled at]....in each cup layer it with Prosciutto...then crack an egg into each cup... then into your grill...indirect heat...if you like your eggs runny then cook the Prosciutto a few minutes first...then crack an egg into it...
I do asparagus on the grill too. Has anyone else grilled king crab legs? I just lay them on the warming rack until heated. I also slice (1" thick) sturgeon fillets and wrap them in foil with some butter and dill weed, add a dash of pepper, grill for about 5 minutes then remove from the foil and lay them on the grill just to put some sear marks on them. Crab and sturgeon, and asparagus or zuchinni, or yellow squash, or......I'm getting hungry.
