cheap air exchanger

Would anybody know a less expensive way for fresh air in a home? (Without opening the windows) I have talked to a few guy in the business and recommended a 3-4 inch plastic pipe with damper ran from the cold air return to the outside. Would this really work? The home already has a electronic air cleaner and UV lights. thank you

Yes, a 4, 5, or 6" pipe will work.
Has to be set up right, or you'll have a high cooling, and heating bill from bringing in too much fresh air.

Just remember that any outside air your system brings in must be added to the load of your systems need to condition. That is going to cost you in energy usage.

I am not against bringing in unconditioned fresh air at all, but there is no such thing as doing this cheaply. Asking for a cheap air exchanger is like asking for a cheap diamond. You're either going to pay for the real thing or get something that is not really worth anything.

A friend of mine put a 4" fresh air pipe with power open damper on his system last year. His heating bills dropped and the window leakage/drafts were eliminated.

If done right, outdoor air is a good thing.

ok are u looking for the air for combustion or u want it to act as a economizer so when its below 70 outside and u want fresh air it will bring it in?
