according to Fox News, a conflict that claims 3,441 American lives is less newsworthy than the death of a c-list celebrity.

Hey TinkerBell,

Show me a nation in history that did not have a military where soldiers died, that had the freedoms that the USA has, and that stayed free for generations? Show me just one that lasted for, say, a century (100 years) with no military conflicts where soldiers died...

I have a beer that says you cannot find one...

Did those militaries fight and die over lies? Did their countries get attacked by Saudis then have a chimp send them to fight Iraqis? I know you cant understand this but when we are done in Iraq there will still be terrorism because we ignored the root cause. The pugs will never go after terrorists because its their money train.(OIL)

TinkerBell, let me clue you in on something:

Politicians make promises they KNOW they cannot pay for, just to 'buy votes'. Then when it comes time to deliver and there is not enough money, they start wars to divert attention.

I wish I had saved the link to it, if someone wants to research it I am sure it is at www.goldeagle.com. I read an article that cited numerous wars and the way they were started. There seemed to be documented proof that went all the way back to the Spartan Empire (BC times) that politicians started wars to 'cover their a$$es'. There were numerous examples in the article, and each time it was 'slight of hand' by a corrupt politician.

So Bush is doing something that many others did not do.

There are those that believe that Bill Clinton started the mess in Kosovo to get the press off his back after the Monica Lewinsky affair. Did you ever see the movie: 'Wag the Dog'??? Go rent it.

The point TinkerBell is that what you accuse Bush of is not new. It has happened many times in the USA, and many times in many other countries.

Now do some studying of history, and prove me wrong... or accept that Bush is not doing anything that most other politicians would (and have) done; given the 'need'...

But then they are by far the most ill-informed of U.S. citizens.

No mystery why they voted for Dubya twice.

No better example is NBC. When they want something explained or accent something they just reported on, they drag up their version of the hunchback of notre dame, Tim Russert. Another one is the failure of Katie Couric moving from NBC where she was protected and crashed with her training wheels off at CBS.

When Geer isn't attacking FOX is is quoting them.

Geer also likes to Quote Zogby Polls.

A poll of likely 2008 United States presidential election voters released on March 14, 2007 by Zogby International reports that 83% of those surveyed believe that there is a bias in the media, with 64% of respondents of the opinion that this bias favors liberals and 28% of respondents believing that this bias is conservative.[4]

Isn't Sweden a socialist country? It might be a theocracy in the near future, like most of western Europe, once the muslims completely take over. We think we got problems in the USA with the Mexicans. Looks like Europe is, again, headed into BIG trouble.

You might want to check out the Swiss military: They are as tough as the Israelies...

But there is a reason nobody messes with Switzerland: It is the banking capital of the world... The really rich have their money there, and that includes the politicians. Honor amoung thieves if you will, but if anyone attacks the Swiss, the whole world's ruler's money is at stake... Nobody that has access to military power is that stupid... Not even a Muslim.

Sweden: Well, IMO kinda like New Zealand: Nothing to gain by conquering them, so why bother.

Sorry Ollie, but IMO those are not really good examples. But then, my opinion may not be worth much...

But I will give you this: Sweden is held out as the model liberal society... Any reason you came to the USA rather than go there? Especially since mountain climbing is your thing. Seriously, I am not being sarcastic. I am curious as to what it is about the USA that brought you here.

Oh, and may I join you on that Pale Ale? Good drink IMO!

Some people look at it like that.

Any reason you came to the USA rather than go there? Especially since mountain climbing is your thing.
There are not really any serious mountains in Sweden. Norway, perhaps, but Sweden, no

Seriously, I am not being sarcastic. I am curious as to what it is about the USA that brought you here.

My mother is an American (from Detroit) and my Father was Danish. We lived in alot of places including Germany and Denmark. My Father was a Computer Engineer, and at that time, you had to go to wherever the work was. In his case that was San Jose California (the silicon valley) among other places... Thats why I came to the USA. To be with my family.
I came to like the place and stayed. Don't get me wrong, I like Denmark too, but I am now really more American than Danish. You would like Denmark, I think that it is one of the only countries in the world that actually sort of celebrates our Fouth of July...

And, I think Swedes suck. (It's a Danish Vs. Swedish rivalry that is hundreds of years old) Nice place to visit, but the people talk really funny.

Oh, and may I join you on that Pale Ale? Good drink IMO!

I have spilled more Pale ale than most people have drank!!:) It was sort of an obsession at one time:D

I understand! I have actually travelled a lot. I do not think I visited Denmark, but I did visit most of GB, Scotland, most of mainland Europe, and Finland, as well as MANY other places. Wish I could travel again, but not in the cards currently.

My parents were both native born. Lots of colorful history, but that is another post...

Probably like me: I have consumed, spilled, recycled ( :D ), etc more beer than anyone could remember... Just good stuff!

Just spent $800. My home theatre went down last weekend... Spent the last few hours figuring out that the receiver died. Bought a 7.1 this time to replace the 5.1 system (7.1 is the same as movie theatres), so needed two more speakers and some cables... It is fun to have the theatre downstairs, but when something gives, there is usually no option but to just bite the bullet and replace it.

Have a GREAT one!
