Just wrote the contract mon. I asked the salesperson what type of hvac and she said COMFORTMAKER but didn't know much, will refer me to the right person. I asked if
I could upgrade equipment and was told NO. Is comfortmaker any good and who makes it?

Comfortmaker is made by ICP, (as is Heil, Arcoaire, Tempstar and others).
As far as quality it's not one of my personal favorites but I have seen many that have been in service many years.

Proper installation is key to equipment longevity. That and change the filter like clockwork. If this is RNC (Residential New Construction) I wish you good luck. You might need it.

New homes get low end stuff and all brands have it. The Comfortmaker "builder" outdoor unit is essentially what Bryant & Carrier used to sell. Be nice to see if you can upgrade to their premium model which is a really nice unit. Get model numbers!
